Ar-Ra'd

The Thunder

سُورَةُ الرَّعۡدِ

Medinan 43 Verses

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1

Ayah 1

Aliflammeemra tilka ayatu alkitabi waallathee onzila ilayka min rabbika alhaqqu walakinna akthara alnnasi la yuminoona

Alif-Lām-Mīm-Rā Tilka 'Āyātu Al-Kitābi Wa Al-Ladhī 'Unzila 'Ilayka Min Rabbika Al-Ĥaqqu Wa Lakinna 'Akthara An-Nāsi Lā Yu'uminūna

Alif. Lam. Mim. Ra. These are the verses of the Book. Whatever is revealed to you from your Lord is the Truth, but most people do not believe

Ayah 2

Allahu allathee rafaAAa alssamawati bighayri AAamadin tarawnaha thumma istawa AAala alAAarshi wasakhkhara alshshamsa waalqamara kullun yajree liajalin musamman yudabbiru alamra yufassilu alayati laAAallakum biliqai rabbikum tooqinoona

Allāhu Al-Ladhī Rafa`a As-Samāwāti Bighayri `Amadin Tarawnahā Thumma Astawá `Alá Al-`Arshi Wa Sakhkhara Ash-Shamsa Wa Al-Qamara Kullun Yajrī Li'jalin Musammáan Yudabbiru Al-'Amra Yufaşşilu Al-'Āyāti La`allakum Biliqā'i Rabbikum Tūqinūna

God is the One Who raised the heavens without a pillar as you can see. Then He established his control over the realm and made the sun and moon subservient to Him. Each of them will remain in motion for an appointed time. He regulates all affairs and explains the evidence (of His existence) so that perhaps you will be certain of your meeting with your Lord

Ayah 3

Wahuwa allathee madda alarda wajaAAala feeha rawasiya waanharan wamin kulli alththamarati jaAAala feeha zawjayni ithnayni yughshee allayla alnnahara inna fee thalika laayatin liqawmin yatafakkaroona

Wa Huwa Al-Ladhī Madda Al-'Arđa Wa Ja`ala Fīhā Rawāsiya Wa 'Anhārāan Wa Min Kulli Ath-Thamarāti Ja`ala Fīhā Zawjayni Athnayni Yughshī Al-Layla An-Nahāra 'Inna Fī Dhālika La'āyātin Liqawmin Yatafakkarūna

It is God who spread out the earth and fixed mountains and placed rivers therein. He made a pair of every fruit and made the night cover the day. All this is evidence (of the existence of God) for the people who think

Ayah 4

Wafee alardi qitaAAun mutajawiratun wajannatun min aAAnabin wazarAAun wanakheelun sinwanun waghayru sinwanin yusqa bimain wahidin wanufaddilu baAAdaha AAala baAAdin fee alokuli inna fee thalika laayatin liqawmin yaAAqiloona

Wa Fī Al-'Arđi Qiţa`un Mutajāwirātun Wa Jannātun Min 'A`nābin Wa Zar`un Wa Nakhīlun Şinwānun Wa Ghayru Şinwānin Yusqá Bimā'in Wāĥidin Wa Nufađđilu Ba`đahā `Alá Ba`đin Fī Al-'Ukuli 'Inna Fī Dhālika La'āyātin Liqawmin Ya`qilūna

In the earth there are adjacent pieces of land, vineyards, farms, date-palms of single and many roots which are all watered by the same water. We have made some yield a better food than others. All this is evidence (of the existence of God) for the people who understand

Ayah 5

Wain taAAjab faAAajabun qawluhum aitha kunna turaban ainna lafee khalqin jadeedin olaika allatheena kafaroo birabbihim waolaika alaghlalu fee aAAnaqihim waolaika ashabu alnnari hum feeha khalidoona

Wa 'In Ta`jab Fa`ajabun Qawluhum 'A'idhā Kunnā Turābāan 'A'innā Lafī Khalqin Jadīdin 'Ūlā'ika Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Birabbihim Wa 'Ūlā'ika Al-'Aghlālu Fī 'A`nāqihim Wa 'Ūlā'ika 'Aşĥābu An-Nāri Hum Fīhā Khālidūna

If there is anything to make you wonder, it would be the words of those who say, "When we become dust, shall we be brought back to life again?" They are disbelievers in their Lord and will wear heavy fetters around their necks. They are the dwellers of the hell fire wherein they will live forever

Ayah 6

WayastaAAjiloonaka bialssayyiati qabla alhasanati waqad khalat min qablihimu almathulatu wainna rabbaka lathoo maghfiratin lilnnasi AAala thulmihim wainna rabbaka lashadeedu alAAiqabi

Wa Yasta`jilūnaka Bis-Sayyi'ati Qabla Al-Ĥasanati Wa Qad Khalat Min Qablihimu Al-Mathulātu Wa 'Inna Rabbaka Ladhū Maghfiratin Lilnnāsi `Alá Žulmihim Wa 'Inna Rabbaka Lashadīdu Al-`Iqābi

They ask you to bring upon them punishment before they ask you for mercy. Such punishments were already brought upon the people who lived before them. Your Lord, certainly, has forgiveness for the injustice of the people. He is also stern in His retribution

Ayah 7

Wayaqoolu allatheena kafaroo lawla onzila AAalayhi ayatun min rabbihi innama anta munthirun walikulli qawmin hadin

Wa Yaqūlu Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Lawlā 'Unzila `Alayhi 'Āyatun Min Rabbihi 'Innamā 'Anta Mundhirun Wa Likulli Qawmin Hādin

The unbelievers say, "Why has God not sent him, (Muhammad), some miracles." (Muhammad), you are only a warner. For every nation there is a guide

Ayah 8

Allahu yaAAlamu ma tahmilu kullu ontha wama tagheedu alarhamu wama tazdadu wakullu shayin AAindahu bimiqdarin

Allāhu Ya`lamu Mā Taĥmilu Kullu 'Unthá Wa Mā Taghīđu Al-'Arĥāmu Wa Mā Tazdādu Wa Kullu Shay'in `Indahu Bimiqdārin

God knows well what every female conceives. He knows what the wombs spoil and dispose of. In His plans everything has been designed proportionately

Ayah 9

AAalimu alghaybi waalshshahadati alkabeeru almutaAAali

Ālimu Al-Ghaybi Wa Ash-Shahādati Al-Kabīru Al-Muta`ālī

He knows all the unseen and seen. He is the most Great and High

Ayah 10

Sawaon minkum man asarra alqawla waman jahara bihi waman huwa mustakhfin biallayli wasaribun bialnnahari

Sawā'un Minkum Man 'Asarra Al-Qawla Wa Man Jahara Bihi Wa Man Huwa Mustakhfin Bil-Layli Wa Sāribun Bin-Nahāri

It is all the same to Him whether you speak in secret or out loud, try to hide in the darkness of night or walk in the brightness of day

Ayah 11

Lahu muAAaqqibatun min bayni yadayhi wamin khalfihi yahfathoonahu min amri Allahi inna Allaha la yughayyiru ma biqawmin hatta yughayyiroo ma bianfusihim waitha arada Allahu biqawmin sooan fala maradda lahu wama lahum min doonihi min walin

Lahu Mu`aqqibātun Min Bayni Yadayhi Wa Min Khalfihi Yaĥfažūnahu Min 'Amri Allāhi 'Inna Allāha Lā Yughayyiru Mā Biqawmin Ĥattá Yughayyirū Mā Bi'anfusihim Wa 'Idhā 'Arāda Allāhu Biqawmin Sū'āan Falā Maradda Lahu Wa Mā Lahum Min Dūnihi Min Wa A

Everyone is guarded and protected on all sides by the order of God. God does not change the condition of a nation unless it changes what is in its heart. When God wants to punish a people, there is no way to escape from it and no one besides God will protect them from it

Ayah 12

Huwa allathee yureekumu albarqa khawfan watamaAAan wayunshio alssahaba alththiqala

Huwa Al-Ladhī Yurīkumu Al-Barqa Khawfāan Wa Ţama`āan Wa Yunshi'u As-Saĥāba Ath-Thiqāla

It is God who flashes lightning to frighten you and to give you hope. It is He who forms the heavy clouds

Ayah 13

Wayusabbihu alrraAAdu bihamdihi waalmalaikatu min kheefatihi wayursilu alssawaAAiqa fayuseebu biha man yashao wahum yujadiloona fee Allahi wahuwa shadeedu almihali

Wa Yusabbiĥu Ar-Ra`du Biĥamdihi Wa Al-Malā'ikatu Min Khīfatihi Wa Yursilu Aş-Şawā`iqa Fayuşību Bihā Man Yashā'u Wa Hum Yujādilūna Fī Allāhi Wa Huwa Shadīdu Al-Miĥāli

Both the thunder and the angels glorify Him and out of His fear always praise Him. He sends down thunder-bolts to strike whomever He wants, while they are busy arguing about the existence of God. His punishment is stern

Ayah 14

Lahu daAAwatu alhaqqi waallatheena yadAAoona min doonihi la yastajeeboona lahum bishayin illa kabasiti kaffayhi ila almai liyablugha fahu wama huwa bibalighihi wama duAAao alkafireena illa fee dalalin

Lahu Da`watu Al-Ĥaqqi Wa Al-Ladhīna Yad`ūna Min Dūnihi Lā Yastajībūna Lahum Bishay'in 'Illā Kabāsiţi Kaffayhi 'Ilá Al-Mā'i Liyablugha Fāhu Wa Mā Huwa Bibālighihi Wa Mā Du`ā'u Al-Kāfirīna 'Illā Fī Đalālin

Prayer to Him is the true prayer. Those to whom they pray instead of God will answer none of their prayers. It is as though one stretches his hands out to the water that can never reach his mouth. The prayers of the unbelievers will get nowhere

Ayah 15

Walillahi yasjudu man fee alssamawati waalardi tawAAan wakarhan wathilaluhum bialghuduwwi waalasali

Wa Lillahi Yasjudu Man Fī As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Ţaw`āan Wa Karhāan Wa Žilāluhum Bil-Ghudūwi Wa Al-'Āşāli

All in the heavens and the earth prostrate themselves before God, either of their own free will or by force, just as do their shadows in the mornings and evenings

Ayah 16

Qul man rabbu alssamawati waalardi quli Allahu qul afaittakhathtum min doonihi awliyaa la yamlikoona lianfusihim nafAAan wala darran qul hal yastawee alaAAma waalbaseeru am hal tastawee alththulumatu waalnnooru am jaAAaloo lillahi shurakaa khalaqoo kakhalqihi fatashabaha alkhalqu AAalayhim quli Allahu khaliqu kulli shayin wahuwa alwahidu alqahharu

Qul Man Rabbu As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Quli Allāhu Qul 'Afāttakhadhtum Min Dūnihi 'Awliyā'a Lā Yamlikūna Li'nfusihim Naf`āan Wa Lā Đarrāan Qul Hal Yastawī Al-'A`má Wa Al-Başīru 'Am Hal Tastawī Až-Žulumātu Wa An-Nūr 'Am Ja`alū Lillāhi Shurakā'a Khalaqū Kakhalqihi Fatashābaha Al-Khalqu `Alayhim Quli Allāhu Khāliqu Kulli Shay'in Wa Huwa Al-Wāĥidu Al-Qahhāru

(Muhammad), ask them, "Who is the Lord of the heavens and the earth?" Say, "It is God." Ask them, "Why then have you taken guardians other than God when such guardians can neither benefit nor harm themselves?" Ask them, "Are the seeing and the blind equal? Is light equal to darkness?" Do they consider that their idols have created anything like that of God, thus, both creations appear to them to be alike?" Say, "God alone is the Creator of all things and He is the One, the All-Dominant

Ayah 17

Anzala mina alssamai maan fasalat awdiyatun biqadariha faihtamala alssaylu zabadan rabiyan wamimma yooqidoona AAalayhi fee alnnari ibtighaa hilyatin aw mataAAin zabadun mithluhu kathalika yadribu Allahu alhaqqa waalbatila faamma alzzabadu fayathhabu jufaan waamma ma yanfaAAu alnnasa fayamkuthu fee alardi kathalika yadribu Allahu alamthala

Anzala Mina As-Samā'i Mā'an Fasālat 'Awdiyatun Biqadarihā Fāĥtamala As-Saylu Zabadāan Rābīāan Wa Mimmā Yūqidūna `Alayhi Fī An-Nāri Abtighā'a Ĥilyatin 'Aw Matā`in Zabadun Mithluhu Kadhālika Yađribu Allāhu Al-Ĥaqqa Wa Al-Bāţila Fa'ammā Az-Zabadu Fayadh/habu Jufā'an Wa 'Ammā Mā Yanfa`u An-Nāsa Fayamkuthu Fī Al-'Arđi Kadhālika Yađribu Allāhu Al-'Amthāla

When God sends down water from the sky and floods run through the valleys, certain quantities of foam rise on the surface of the flood water. This is similar to that foam which rises when you expose something to the heat of a fire to manufacture ornaments or for other reasons. To God Truth and falsehood are like these examples. The foam disappears but what is profitable to the human being stays in the land. Thus, does God coin His parables

Ayah 18

Lillatheena istajaboo lirabbihimu alhusna waallatheena lam yastajeeboo lahu law anna lahum ma fee alardi jameeAAan wamithlahu maAAahu laiftadaw bihi olaika lahum sooo alhisabi wamawahum jahannamu wabisa almihadu

Lilladhīna Astajābū Lirabbihimu Al-Ĥusná Wa Al-Ladhīna Lam Yastajībū Lahu Law 'Anna Lahum Mā Fī Al-'Arđi Jamī`āan Wa Mithlahu Ma`ahu Lāftadaw Bihi 'Ūlā'ika Lahum Sū'u Al-Ĥisābi Wa Ma'wāhum Jahannamu Wa Bi'sa Al-Mihādu

Those who answer the call of their Lord will receive good rewards. Whatever those who have not answered the call of their Lord offer to redeem themselves, even if they offer double the wealth of the whole earth, will not be accepted. They will face a terrible reckoning and their dwelling will be hell, a terrible place to rest

Ayah 19

Afaman yaAAlamu annama onzila ilayka min rabbika alhaqqu kaman huwa aAAma innama yatathakkaru oloo alalbabi

Afaman Ya`lamu 'Annamā 'Unzila 'Ilayka Min Rabbika Al-Ĥaqqu Kaman Huwa 'A`má 'Innamā Yatadhakkaru 'Ūlū Al-'Albābi

Can a person, who knows that what is revealed to you from your Lord is the truth, be considered equal to a blind person? Only those who have understanding take heed

Ayah 20

Allatheena yoofoona biAAahdi Allahi wala yanqudoona almeethaqa

Al-Ladhīna Yūfūna Bi`ahdi Allāhi Wa Lā Yanquđūna Al-Mīthāqa

Those who fulfill their promise to and covenant with God

21

Ayah 21

Waallatheena yasiloona ma amara Allahu bihi an yoosala wayakhshawna rabbahum wayakhafoona sooa alhisabi

Wa Al-Ladhīna Yaşilūna Mā 'Amara Allāhu Bihi 'An Yūşala Wa Yakhshawna Rabbahum Wa Yakhāfūna Sū'a Al-Ĥisābi

who maintain all the proper relations that God has commanded them to maintain, who have fear of their Lord and the hardships of the Day of Judgment

Ayah 22

Waallatheena sabaroo ibtighaa wajhi rabbihim waaqamoo alssalata waanfaqoo mimma razaqnahum sirran waAAalaniyatan wayadraoona bialhasanati alssayyiata olaika lahum AAuqba alddari

Wa Al-Ladhīna Şabarū Abtighā'a Wajhi Rabbihim Wa 'Aqāmū Aş-Şalāata Wa 'Anfaqū Mimmā Razaqnāhum Sirrāan Wa `Alāniyatan Wa Yadra'ūna Bil-Ĥasanati As-Sayyi'ata 'Ūlā'ika Lahum `Uqbá Ad-Dāri

who exercise patience to gain God's pleasure, who are steadfast in prayer, who spend for the cause of God privately and in public, and who keep away evil with good will have a blissful end

23

Ayah 23

Jannatu AAadnin yadkhuloonaha waman salaha min abaihim waazwajihim wathurriyyatihim waalmalaikatu yadkhuloona AAalayhim min kulli babin

Jannātu `Adnin Yadkhulūnahā Wa Man Şalaĥa Min 'Ābā'ihim Wa 'Azwājihim Wa Dhurrīyātihim Wa Al-Malā'ikatu Yadkhulūna `Alayhim Min Kulli Bābin

They will be admitted to the gardens of Eden wherein they will live forever with their righteous fathers, spouses, and offspring. The angels will come to them through every gate

Ayah 24

Salamun AAalaykum bima sabartum faniAAma AAuqba alddari

Salāmun `Alaykum Bimā Şabartum Fani`ma `Uqbá Ad-Dāri

saying, "Peace be with you for all that you have patiently endured. Blessed is the reward of Paradise

Ayah 25

Waallatheena yanqudoona AAahda Allahi min baAAdi meethaqihi wayaqtaAAoona ma amara Allahu bihi an yoosala wayufsidoona fee alardi olaika lahumu allaAAnatu walahum sooo alddari

Wa Al-Ladhīna Yanquđūna `Ahda Allāhi Min Ba`di Mīthāqihi Wa Yaqţa`ūna Mā 'Amara Allāhu Bihi 'An Yūşala Wa Yufsidūna Fī Al-'Arđi 'Ūlā'ika Lahumu Al-La`natu Wa Lahum Sū'u Ad-Dāri

Those who disregard their covenant with God after He has taken such a pledge from them, who sever the proper relations that God has commanded them to establish, and those who spread evil in the land will have God's condemnation instead of reward and will face the most terrible end

26

Ayah 26

Allahu yabsutu alrrizqa liman yashao wayaqdiru wafarihoo bialhayati alddunya wama alhayatu alddunya fee alakhirati illa mataAAun

Allāhu Yabsuţu Ar-Rizqa Liman Yashā'u Wa Yaqdiru Wa Fariĥū Bil-Ĥayāati Ad-Dunyā Wa Mā Al-Ĥayāatu Ad-Dunyā Fī Al-'Ākhirati 'Illā Matā`un

God gives abundant sustenance to whomever He wants and determines everyone's destiny. Some people are very happy with the worldly life. Compared to the life to come it is only a temporary means

27

Ayah 27

Wayaqoolu allatheena kafaroo lawla onzila AAalayhi ayatun min rabbihi qul inna Allaha yudillu man yashao wayahdee ilayhi man anaba

Wa Yaqūlu Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Lawlā 'Unzila `Alayhi 'Āyatun Min Rabbihi Qul 'Inna Allāha Yuđillu Man Yashā'u Wa Yahdī 'Ilayhi Man 'Anāba

The unbelievers say, "Why have not some miracles been sent to him, (Muhammad), from his Lord." Say, "God causes whomever He wants to go astray and He guides those who turn to Him in repentance

Ayah 28

Allatheena amanoo watatmainnu quloobuhum bithikri Allahi ala bithikri Allahi tatmainnu alquloobu

Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa Taţma'innu Qulūbuhum Bidhikri Allāhi 'Alā Bidhikri Allāhi Taţma'innu Al-Qulūbu

and the faithful ones whose hearts are comforted by the remembrance of God. Remembrance of God certainly brings comfort to all hearts

Ayah 29

Allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati tooba lahum wahusnu maabin

Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa `Amilū Aş-Şāliĥāti Ţūbá Lahum Wa Ĥusnu Ma'ābin

The righteously striving believers will receive abundant blessings and the best eternal dwelling

Ayah 30

Kathalika arsalnaka fee ommatin qad khalat min qabliha omamun litatluwa AAalayhimu allathee awhayna ilayka wahum yakfuroona bialrrahmani qul huwa rabbee la ilaha illa huwa AAalayhi tawakkaltu wailayhi matabi

Kadhālika 'Arsalnāka Fī 'Ummatin Qad Khalat Min Qablihā 'Umamun Litatluwa `Alayhimu Al-Ladhī 'Awĥaynā 'Ilayka Wa Hum Yakfurūna Bir-Raĥmani Qul Huwa Rabbī Lā 'Ilāha 'Illā Huwa `Alayhi Tawakkaltu Wa 'Ilayhi Matābi

We have sent you to a nation before whom there lived many nations so that you would read to them what We have revealed to you. They still deny the existence of the Beneficent God. Say, "He is my Lord besides whom there is no other God. I trust Him and turn to Him in repentance

Ayah 31

Walaw anna quranan suyyirat bihi aljibalu aw quttiAAat bihi alardu aw kullima bihi almawta bal lillahi alamru jameeAAan afalam yayasi allatheena amanoo an law yashao Allahu lahada alnnasa jameeAAan wala yazalu allatheena kafaroo tuseebuhum bima sanaAAoo qariAAatun aw tahullu qareeban min darihim hatta yatiya waAAdu Allahi inna Allaha la yukhlifu almeeAAada

Wa Law 'Anna Qur'ānāan Suyyirat Bihi Al-Jibālu 'Aw Quţţi`at Bihi Al-'Arđu 'Aw Kullima Bihi Al-Mawtá Bal Lillāhi Al-'Amru Jamī`āan 'Afalam Yay'asi Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū 'An Law Yashā'u Allāhu Lahadá An-Nāsa Jamī`āan Wa Lā Yazālu Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Tuşībuhum Bimā Şana`ū Qāri`atun 'Aw Taĥullu Qarībāan Min Dārihim Ĥattá Ya'tiya Wa`du Allāhi 'Inna Allāha Lā Yukhlifu Al-Mī`āda

Even if the Quran would make mountains move, cut the earth into pieces and make the dead able to speak, (the unbelievers still would not believe). All affairs are in the hands of God. Do the believers still hope that they will believe? Had God wanted he could have guided the whole of mankind to the right path. The unbelievers will always suffer afflictions that result from their deeds or the affliction which occur near their homes, until God's promise of punishing them will be fulfilled. God does not disregard His promise

Ayah 32

Walaqadi istuhzia birusulin min qablika faamlaytu lillatheena kafaroo thumma akhathtuhum fakayfa kana AAiqabi

Wa Laqadi Astuhzi'a Birusulin Min Qablika Fa'amlaytu Lilladhīna Kafarū Thumma 'Akhadhtuhum Fakayfa Kāna `Iqābi

(Muhammad), people have mocked the Messengers who lived before you. I gave a respite to the unbelievers (so that they would repent, but they did not). Then I struck them with a terrible retribution

Ayah 33

Afaman huwa qaimun AAala kulli nafsin bima kasabat wajaAAaloo lillahi shurakaa qul sammoohum am tunabbioonahu bima la yaAAlamu fee alardi am bithahirin mina alqawli bal zuyyina lillatheena kafaroo makruhum wasuddoo AAani alssabeeli waman yudlili Allahu fama lahu min hadin

Afaman Huwa Qā'imun `Alá Kulli Nafsin Bimā Kasabat Wa Ja`alū Lillāhi Shurakā'a Qul Sammūhum 'Am Tunabbi'ūnahu Bimā Lā Ya`lamu Fī Al-'Arđi 'Am Bižāhirin Mina Al-Qawli Bal Zuyyina Lilladhīna Kafarū Makruhum Wa Şuddū `Ani As-Sabīli Wa Man Yuđlili Allāhu Famā Lahu Min Hādin

(Can anyone be considered equal to) the One who is the Guardian of every soul and the Watcher of what it has gained? Yet, the unbelievers have considered their idols equal to God. Say, "Name the attributes of your idols. Are you trying to tell God about something that does not exist on the earth? Do you only mention empty names? Evil plans have attracted the unbelievers and have misled them from the right path. No one can guide those whom God has caused to go astray

Ayah 34

Lahum AAathabun fee alhayati alddunya walaAAathabu alakhirati ashaqqu wama lahum mina Allahi min waqin

Lahum `Adhābun Fī Al-Ĥayāati Ad-Dunyā Wa La`adhābu Al-'Ākhirati 'Ashaqqu Wa Mā Lahum Mina Allāhi Min Wāqin

The unbelievers will face torment in this world and their punishment in the life hereafter will be even greater. No one can save them from the wrath of God

35

Ayah 35

Mathalu aljannati allatee wuAAida almuttaqoona tajree min tahtiha alanharu okuluha daimun wathilluha tilka AAuqba allatheena ittaqaw waAAuqba alkafireena alnnaru

Mathalu Al-Jannati Allatī Wu`ida Al-Muttaqūna Tajrī Min Taĥtihā Al-'Anhāru 'Ukuluhā Dā'imun Wa Žilluhā Tilka `Uqbá Al-Ladhīna Attaqaw Wa `Uqbá Al-Kāfirīna An-Nāru

The gardens which have been promised to the pious have flowing streams, everlasting fruits, and perpetual shade. Such is the blissful end of the pious, but hell fire is the terrible end for the unbelievers

Ayah 36

Waallatheena ataynahumu alkitaba yafrahoona bima onzila ilayka wamina alahzabi man yunkiru baAAdahu qul innama omirtu an aAAbuda Allaha wala oshrika bihi ilayhi adAAoo wailayhi maabi

Wa Al-Ladhīna 'Ātaynāhumu Al-Kitāba Yafraĥūna Bimā 'Unzila 'Ilayka Wa Mina Al-'Aĥzābi Man Yunkiru Ba`đahu Qul 'Innamā 'Umirtu 'An 'A`buda Allāha Wa Lā 'Ushrika Bihi 'Ilayhi 'Ad`ū Wa 'Ilayhi Ma'ābi

The People of the Book are happy with what has been revealed to you. Among the different parties, there are some who dislike part of what has been revealed to you. (Muhammad), tell them, "I have been commanded to worship God alone, not to consider anything equal to Him. To Him do I pray and to Him shall I return

Ayah 37

Wakathalika anzalnahu hukman AAarabiyyan walaini ittabaAAta ahwaahum baAAda ma jaaka mina alAAilmi ma laka mina Allahi min waliyyin wala waqin

Wa Kadhalika 'Anzalnāhu Ĥukmāan `Arabīyāan Wa La'ini Attaba`ta 'Ahwā'ahum Ba`damā Jā'aka Mina Al-`Ilmi Mā Laka Mina Allāhi Min Wa Līyin Wa Lā Wāqin

We revealed it (the Quran) as a code of conduct in the Arabic language. (Muhammad), if you follow their desires after the knowledge has been revealed to you, know that no one will be able to guard or protect you from the wrath of God

Ayah 38

Walaqad arsalna rusulan min qablika wajaAAalna lahum azwajan wathurriyyatan wama kana lirasoolin an yatiya biayatin illa biithni Allahi likulli ajalin kitabun

Wa Laqad 'Arsalnā Rusulāan Min Qablika Wa Ja`alnā Lahum 'Azwājāan Wa Dhurrīyatan Wa Mā Kāna Lirasūlin 'An Ya'tiya Bi'āyatin 'Illā Bi'idhni Allāhi Likulli 'Ajalin Kitābun

We sent Messengers before you (Muhammad) and gave them wives and offspring. No Messenger was to show miracles without the permission of God

Ayah 39

Yamhoo Allahu ma yashao wayuthbitu waAAindahu ommu alkitabi

Yamĥū Allāhu Mā Yashā'u Wa Yuthbitu Wa `Indahu 'Ummu Al-Kitābi

For every event God has ordained His decree. God establishes or effaces whatever He wants and with Him is the original of the Book

Ayah 40

Wain ma nuriyannaka baAAda allathee naAAiduhum aw natawaffayannaka fainnama AAalayka albalaghu waAAalayna alhisabu

Wa 'In Mā Nuriyannaka Ba`đa Al-Ladhī Na`iduhum 'Aw Natawaffayannaka Fa'innamā `Alayka Al-Balāghu Wa `Alaynā Al-Ĥisābu

Whether We show them (the unbelievers) to you facing the punishment with which We had threatened them, or make you die first (before its fulfillment), your duty is only to preach. It is up to Us to call them to account (for their deeds)

Ayah 41

Awalam yaraw anna natee alarda nanqusuha min atrafiha waAllahu yahkumu la muAAaqqiba lihukmihi wahuwa sareeAAu alhisabi

Awalam Yaraw 'Annā Na'tī Al-'Arđa Nanquşuhā Min 'Aţrāfihā Wa Allāhu Yaĥkumu Lā Mu`aqqiba Liĥukmihi Wa Huwa Sarī`u Al-Ĥisābi

Have they not considered that We have taken over the land and reduced its borders? It is God who issues the irreversible decree and His reckoning is swift

Ayah 42

Waqad makara allatheena min qablihim falillahi almakru jameeAAan yaAAlamu ma taksibu kullu nafsin wasayaAAlamu alkuffaru liman AAuqba alddari

Wa Qad Makara Al-Ladhīna Min Qablihim Falillāhi Al-Makru Jamī`āan Ya`lamu Mā Taksibu Kullu Nafsin Wa Saya`lamu Al-Kuffāru Liman `Uqbá Ad-Dāri

Certain people who lived before plotted evil plans but God is the Master of all plans. He knows what every soul does. The unbelievers will soon learn who will achieve the blissful end

Ayah 43

Wayaqoolu allatheena kafaroo lasta mursalan qul kafa biAllahi shaheedan baynee wabaynakum waman AAindahu AAilmu alkitabi

Wa Yaqūlu Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Lasta Mursalāan Qul Kafá Billāhi Shahīdāan Baynī Wa Baynakum Wa Man `Indahu `Ilmu Al-Kitābi

(Muhammad), the unbelievers say, "You are not a Messenger." Say, "God and those who have the knowledge of the Book are sufficient witness (to my prophethood)
