And Korah, Pharaoh, and Haman. Certainly, Moses brought them manifest proofs, but they acted arrogantly in the land; though they could not outmaneuver [Allah]

40

Ayah 40

Fakullan akhathna bithanbihi faminhum man arsalna AAalayhi hasiban waminhum man akhathathu alssayhatu waminhum man khasafna bihi alarda waminhum man aghraqna wama kana Allahu liyathlimahum walakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoona

So We seized each [of them] for his sin: among them were those upon whom We unleashed a rain of stones, and among them were those who were seized by the Cry, and among them were those whom We caused the earth to swallow, and among them were those whom We drowned. It was not Allah who wronged them, but it was they who used to wrong themselves

41

Ayah 42

Inna Allaha yaAAlamu ma yadAAoona min doonihi min shayin wahuwa alAAazeezu alhakeemu

Recite what has been revealed to you of the Book, and maintain the prayer. Indeed the prayer restrains from indecent and wrongful conduct, and the remembrance of Allah is surely greater. And Allah knows whatever [deeds] you do

46

Ayah 46

Wala tujadiloo ahla alkitabi illa biallatee hiya ahsanu illa allatheena thalamoo minhum waqooloo amanna biallathee onzila ilayna waonzila ilaykum wailahuna wailahukum wahidun wanahnu lahu muslimoona

Wa Lā Tujādilū 'Ahla Al-Kitābi 'Illā Bi-Atī Hiya 'Aĥsanu 'Illā Al-Ladhīna Žalamū Minhum Wa Qūlū 'Āmannā Bial-Ladhī 'Unzila 'Ilaynā Wa 'Unzila 'Ilaykum Wa 'Ilahunā Wa 'Ilahukum Wāĥidun Wa Naĥnu Lahu Muslimūna

Do not argue with the People of the Book except in a manner which is best, except such of them as are wrongdoers, and say, ‘We believe in what has been sent down to us and in what has been sent down to you; our God and your God is one [and the same], and to Him do we submit.’

47

Ayah 47

Wakathalika anzalna ilayka alkitaba faallatheena ataynahumu alkitaba yuminoona bihi wamin haolai man yuminu bihi wama yajhadu biayatina illa alkafiroona

Thus We have sent down the Book to you; those to whom We have given the Book believe in it, and of these there are some who believe in it, and none contests Our signs except the faithless

48

Ayah 48

Wama kunta tatloo min qablihi min kitabin wala takhuttuhu biyameenika ithan lairtaba almubtiloona

Wa Mā Kunta Tatlū Min Qablihi Min Kitābin Wa Lā Takhuţţuhu Biyamīnika 'Idhāan Lārtāba Al-Mubţilūna

You did not use to recite any scripture before it, nor did you write it with your right hand, for then the impugners would have been skeptical

49

Ayah 49

Bal huwa ayatun bayyinatun fee sudoori allatheena ootoo alAAilma wama yajhadu biayatina illa alththalimoona

Bal Huwa 'Āyātun Bayyinātun Fī Şudūri Al-Ladhīna 'Ūtū Al-`Ilma Wa Mā Yajĥadu Bi'āyātinā 'Illā Až-Žālimūna

Indeed, it is [present as] manifest signs in the breasts of those who have been given knowledge, and none contests Our signs except wrongdoers

50

Ayah 50

They say, ‘Why has not some sign been sent down to him from his Lord?’ Say, ‘These signs are only from Allah, and I am only a manifest warner.’

51

Ayah 51

Awalam yakfihim anna anzalna AAalayka alkitaba yutla AAalayhim inna fee thalika larahmatan wathikra liqawmin yuminoona

Awalam Yakfihim 'Annā 'Anzalnā `Alayka Al-Kitāba Yutlá `Alayhim 'Inna Fī Dhālika Laraĥmatan Wa Dhikrá Liqawmin Yu'uminūna

52

Say, ‘Allah suffices as a witness between me and you: He knows whatever there is in the heavens and the earth. Those who put faith in falsehood and defy Allah—it is they who are the losers.’

53

Ayah 53

WayastaAAjiloonaka bialAAathabi walawla ajalun musamman lajaahumu alAAathabu walayatiyannahum baghtatan wahum la yashAAuroona

Wa Yasta`jilūnaka Bil-`Adhābi Wa Lawlā 'Ajalun Musammáan Lajā'ahumu Al-`Adhābu Wa Laya'tiyannahum Baghtatan Wa Hum Lā Yash`urūna

They ask you to hasten the punishment. Yet were it not for a specified time, the punishment would have surely overtaken them. Surely, it will overtake them suddenly while they are unaware

54

Ayah 54

YastaAAjiloonaka bialAAathabi wainna jahannama lamuheetatun bialkafireena

Yasta`jilūnaka Bil-`Adhābi Wa 'Inna Jahannama Lamuĥīţatun Bil-Kāfirīna

They ask you to hasten the punishment, and indeed hell will besiege the faithless

55
