Al-Ahzaab

The Clans

سُورَةُ الأَحۡزَابِ

Medinan 73 Verses

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1

Ayah 1

Ya ayyuha alnnabiyyu ittaqi Allaha wala tutiAAi alkafireena waalmunafiqeena inna Allaha kana AAaleeman hakeeman

Yā 'Ayyuhā An-Nabīyu Attaqi Allāha Wa Lā Tuţi`i Al-Kāfirīna Wa Al-Munāfiqīna 'Inna Allāha Kāna `Alīmāan Ĥakīmāan

Prophet, have fear of God and do not yield to the infidels and hypocrites. God is All-knowing and All-wise

Ayah 2

WaittabiAA ma yooha ilayka min rabbika inna Allaha kana bima taAAmaloona khabeeran

Wa Attabi` Mā Yūĥá 'Ilayka Min Rabbika 'Inna Allāha Kāna Bimā Ta`malūna Khabīrāan

Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord. God is All-aware of what you do

Ayah 3

Watawakkal AAala Allahi wakafa biAllahi wakeelan

Wa Tawakkal `Alá Allāhi Wa Kafá Billāhi Wa Kīlāan

Trust in God and be sure that He is a Sufficient Guardian

Ayah 4

Ma jaAAala Allahu lirajulin min qalbayni fee jawfihi wama jaAAala azwajakumu allaee tuthahiroona minhunna ommahatikum wama jaAAala adAAiyaakum abnaakum thalikum qawlukum biafwahikum waAllahu yaqoolu alhaqqa wahuwa yahdee alssabeela

Mā Ja`ala Allāhu Lirajulin Min Qalbayni Fī Jawfihi Wa Mā Ja`ala 'Azwājakumu Al-Lā'ī Tužāhirūna Minhunna 'Ummahātikum Wa Mā Ja`ala 'Ad`iyā'akum 'Abnā'akum Dhālikum Qawlukum Bi'afwāhikum Wa Allāhu Yaqūlu Al-Ĥaqqa Wa Huwa Yahdī As-Sabīla

God has not created two hearts inside any one human being. God does not consider your wives whom you renounce by zihar as your mothers nor those whom you adopt as your sons. These are only words of your mouth. God tells the Truth and shows the right path

Ayah 5

OdAAoohum liabaihim huwa aqsatu AAinda Allahi fain lam taAAlamoo abaahum faikhwanukum fee alddeeni wamawaleekum walaysa AAalaykum junahun feema akhtatum bihi walakin ma taAAammadat quloobukum wakana Allahu ghafooran raheeman

Ad`ūhum Li'abā'ihim Huwa 'Aqsaţu `Inda Allāhi Fa'in Lam Ta`lamū 'Ābā'ahum Fa'ikhwānukum Fī Ad-Dīni Wa Mawālīkum Wa Laysa `Alaykum Junāĥun Fīmā 'Akhţa'tum Bihi Wa Lakin Mā Ta`ammadat Qulūbukum Wa Kāna Allāhu Ghafūrāan Raĥīmāan

Call them sons of their own fathers. It is more just in the eyes of God. If you do not know their fathers, they are your brothers and friends in religion. You will not be responsible for your mistakes, but you will be responsible for what you do intentionally. God is All-forgiving and All-merciful

Ayah 6

Alnnabiyyu awla bialmumineena min anfusihim waazwajuhu ommahatuhum waoloo alarhami baAAduhum awla bibaAAdin fee kitabi Allahi mina almumineena waalmuhajireena illa an tafAAaloo ila awliyaikum maAAroofan kana thalika fee alkitabi mastooran

An-Nabīyu 'Awlá Bil-Mu'uminīna Min 'Anfusihim Wa 'Azwājuhu 'Ummahātuhum Wa 'Ūlū Al-'Arĥāmi Ba`đuhum 'Awlá Biba`đin Fī Kitābi Allāhi Mina Al-Mu'uminīna Wa Al-Muhājirīna 'Illā 'An Taf`alū 'Ilá 'Awliyā'ikum Ma`rūfāan Kāna Dhālika Fī Al-Kitābi Masţūrāan

The Prophet has more authority over the believers than themselves. His wives are their mothers. The relatives are closer to each other, according to the Book of God, than the believers and the emigrants. However, you may show kindness to your guardians. This also is written in the Book

Ayah 7

Waith akhathna mina alnnabiyyeena meethaqahum waminka wamin noohin waibraheema wamoosa waAAeesa ibni maryama waakhathna minhum meethaqan ghaleethan

Wa 'Idh 'Akhadhnā Mina An-Nabīyīna Mīthāqahum Wa Minka Wa Min Nūĥin Wa 'Ibrāhīma Wa Mūsá Wa `Īsá Abni Maryama Wa 'Akhadhnā Minhum Mīthāqāan Ghalīžāan

We had a solemn covenant with you (Muhammad), and the Prophets: Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus, the son of Mary

Ayah 8

Liyasala alssadiqeena AAan sidqihim waaAAadda lilkafireena AAathaban aleeman

Liyas'ala Aş-Şādiqīna `An Şidqihim Wa 'A`adda Lilkāfirīna `Adhābāan 'Alīmāan

This was a firm agreement. God will ask the truthful ones about their truthfulness and prepare a painful torment for the disbelievers

Ayah 9

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo othkuroo niAAmata Allahi AAalaykum ith jaatkum junoodun faarsalna AAalayhim reehan wajunoodan lam tarawha wakana Allahu bima taAAmaloona baseeran

Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Adhkurū Ni`mata Allāhi `Alaykum 'Idh Jā'atkum Junūdun Fa'arsalnā `Alayhim Rīĥāan Wa Junūdāan Lam Tarawhā Wa Kāna Allāhu Bimā Ta`malūna Başīrāan

Believers, recall God's favor to you when the army attacked you. We sent a wind and the armies, which you did not see, to support you. God sees all that you do

Ayah 10

Ith jaookum min fawqikum wamin asfala minkum waith zaghati alabsaru wabalaghati alquloobu alhanajira watathunnoona biAllahi alththunoona

Idh Jā'ūkum Min Fawqikum Wa Min 'Asfala Minkum Wa 'Idh Zāghati Al-'Abşāru Wa Balaghati Al-Qulūbu Al-Ĥanājira Wa Tažunnūna Billāhi Až-Žunūna

Eyes became dull and hearts almost reached the throat when they attacked you from above and below and you started to think of God with suspicion

Ayah 11

Hunalika ibtuliya almuminoona wazulziloo zilzalan shadeedan

Hunālika Abtuliya Al-Mu'uminūna Wa Zulzilū Zilzālāan Shadīdāan

There the believers were tested and tremendously shaken

Ayah 12

Waith yaqoolu almunafiqoona waallatheena fee quloobihim maradun ma waAAadana Allahu warasooluhu illa ghurooran

Wa 'Idh Yaqūlu Al-Munāfiqūna Wa Al-Ladhīna Fī Qulūbihim Marađun Mā Wa`adanā Allāhu Wa Rasūluhu 'Illā Ghurūrāan

It was there that the hypocrites and those whose hearts were sick, said, "The promise of God and His Messenger has proved to be nothing but deceit

Ayah 13

Waith qalat taifatun minhum ya ahla yathriba la muqama lakum fairjiAAoo wayastathinu fareequn minhumu alnnabiyya yaqooloona inna buyootana AAawratun wama hiya biAAawratin in yureedoona illa firaran

Wa 'Idh Qālat Ţā'ifatun Minhum Yā 'Ahla Yathriba Lā Muqāma Lakum Fārji`ū Wa Yasta'dhinu Farīqun Minhumu An-Nabīya Yaqūlūna 'Inna Buyūtanā `Awratun Wa Mā Hiya Bi`awratin 'In Yurīdūna 'Illā Firārāan

It was there that a group of them said, "People of Yathrib, turn back for there is no place for you to stay." Another group, asking for the Prophet's permission, said, "Our homes are defenseless." In fact, they were not defenseless. They only wanted to run away

Ayah 14

Walaw dukhilat AAalayhim min aqtariha thumma suiloo alfitnata laatawha wama talabbathoo biha illa yaseeran

Wa Law Dukhilat `Alayhim Min 'Aqţārihā Thumma Su'ilū Al-Fitnata La'ātawhā Wa Mā Talabbathū Bihā 'Illā Yasīrāan

Had the army of the enemies invaded their homes and asked them to give-up their religion, they would have yielded to them without delay

Ayah 15

Walaqad kanoo AAahadoo Allaha min qablu la yuwalloona aladbara wakana AAahdu Allahi masoolan

Wa Laqad Kānū `Āhadū Allāha Min Qablu Lā Yuwallūna Al-'Adbāra Wa Kāna `Ahdu Allāhi Mas'ūlāan

They had certainly promised God that they would not turn away. To promise God is certainly a (great) responsibility

Ayah 16

Qul lan yanfaAAakumu alfiraru in farartum mina almawti awi alqatli waithan la tumattaAAoona illa qaleelan

Qul Lan Yanfa`akumu Al-Firāru 'In Farartum Mina Al-Mawti 'Awi Al-Qatli Wa 'Idhāan Lā Tumatta`ūna 'Illā Qalīlāan

(Muhammad), tell them, "Running away will never be of any benefit to you even if you run away from death or being killed. Still you would not be able to enjoy yourselves except for a short while

Ayah 17

Qul man tha allathee yaAAsimukum mina Allahi in arada bikum sooan aw arada bikum rahmatan wala yajidoona lahum min dooni Allahi waliyyan wala naseeran

Qul Man Dhā Al-Ladhī Ya`şimukum Mina Allāhi 'In 'Arāda Bikum Sū'āan 'Aw 'Arāda Bikum Raĥmatan Wa Lā Yajidūna Lahum Min Dūni Allāhi Walīyāan Wa Lā Naşīrāan

Say, "Who can prevent God from punishing you or granting you mercy? They will not find anyone besides God as their guardian or helper

Ayah 18

Qad yaAAlamu Allahu almuAAawwiqeena minkum waalqaileena liikhwanihim halumma ilayna wala yatoona albasa illa qaleelan

Qad Ya`lamu Allāhu Al-Mu`awwiqīna Minkum Wa Al-Qā'ilīna Li'ikhwānihim Halumma 'Ilaynā Wa Lā Ya'tūna Al-Ba'sa 'Illā Qalīlāan

God certainly knows those among you who create obstacles (on the way that leads to God) and those who say to their brothers, 'Come quickly to us' and very rarely take part in the fighting

Ayah 19

Ashihhatan AAalaykum faitha jaa alkhawfu raaytahum yanthuroona ilayka tadooru aAAyunuhum kaallathee yughsha AAalayhi mina almawti faitha thahaba alkhawfu salaqookum bialsinatin hidadin ashihhatan AAala alkhayri olaika lam yuminoo faahbata Allahu aAAmalahum wakana thalika AAala Allahi yaseeran

Ashiĥĥatan `Alaykum Fa'idhā Jā'a Al-Khawfu Ra'aytahum Yanžurūna 'Ilayka Tadūru 'A`yunuhum Kālladhī Yughshá `Alayhi Mina Al-Mawti Fa'idhā Dhahaba Al-Khawfu Salaqūkum Bi'alsinatin Ĥidādin 'Ashiĥĥatan `Alá Al-Khayri 'Ūlā'ika Lam Yu'uminū Fa'aĥbaţa Allāhu 'A`mālahum Wa Kāna Dhālika `Alá Allāhi Yasīrāan

They are niggardly in spending for you. When fear comes, you can see them looking at you, their eyes rolling about like to faint because of the agony of death. When their fear subsides, they start to bite you with their sharp tongues. They are miserly in spending for a virtuous cause and have no faith. God has turned their deeds devoid of all virtue. This was not at all difficult for God

Ayah 20

Yahsaboona alahzaba lam yathhaboo wain yati alahzabu yawaddoo law annahum badoona fee alaAArabi yasaloona AAan anbaikum walaw kanoo feekum ma qataloo illa qaleelan

Yaĥsabūna Al-'Aĥzāba Lam Yadh/habū Wa 'In Ya'ti Al-'Aĥzābu Yawaddū Law 'Annahum Bādūna Fī Al-'A`rābi Yas'alūna `An 'Anbā'ikum Wa Law Kānū Fīkum Mā Qātalū 'Illā Qalīlāan

They think that the confederate tribes have not yet gone. If the confederate tribes were to attack them, they would have wished to be left alone among the bedouin Arabs where they would only follow the news about you. Even if they were with you, only a few of them would take part in the fight

21

Ayah 21

Laqad kana lakum fee rasooli Allahi oswatun hasanatun liman kana yarjoo Allaha waalyawma alakhira wathakara Allaha katheeran

Laqad Kāna Lakum Fī Rasūli Allāhi 'Uswatun Ĥasanatun Liman Kāna Yarjū Allāha Wa Al-Yawma Al-'Ākhira Wa Dhakara Allāha Kathīrāan

The Messenger of God is certainly a good example for those of you who have hope in God and in the Day of Judgment and who remember God very often

Ayah 22

Walamma raa almuminoona alahzaba qaloo hatha ma waAAadana Allahu warasooluhu wasadaqa Allahu warasooluhu wama zadahum illa eemanan watasleeman

Wa Lammā Ra'á Al-Mu'uminūna Al-'Aĥzāba Qālū Hādhā Mā Wa`adanā Allāhu Wa Rasūluhu Wa Şadaqa Allāhu Wa Rasūluhu Wa Mā Zādahum 'Illā 'Īmānāan Wa Taslīmāan

On seeing the confederate tribes, the believers said, "This is what God and His Messenger had promised us. The promise of God and His Messenger is true." This only strengthens their faith and their desire of submission to the will of God

23

Ayah 23

Mina almumineena rijalun sadaqoo ma AAahadoo Allaha AAalayhi faminhum man qada nahbahu waminhum man yantathiru wama baddaloo tabdeelan

Mina Al-Mu'uminīna Rijālun Şadaqū Mā `Āhadū Allāha `Alayhi Faminhum Man Qađá Naĥbahu Wa Minhum Man Yantažiru Wa Mā Baddalū Tabdīlāan

Among the believers there are people who are true in their promise to God. Some of them have already passed away and some of them are waiting. They never yield to any change

Ayah 24

Liyajziya Allahu alssadiqeena bisidqihim wayuAAaththiba almunafiqeena in shaa aw yatooba AAalayhim inna Allaha kana ghafooran raheeman

Liyajziya Allāhu Aş-Şādiqīna Bişidqihim Wa Yu`adhiba Al-Munāfiqīna 'In Shā'a 'Aw Yatūba `Alayhim 'Inna Allāha Kāna Ghafūrāan Raĥīmāan

God will certainly reward the truthful ones for their truthfulness and punish or pardon the hypocrites as He wishes. God is All-forgiving and All-merciful

Ayah 25

Waradda Allahu allatheena kafaroo bighaythihim lam yanaloo khayran wakafa Allahu almumineena alqitala wakana Allahu qawiyyan AAazeezan

Waradda Allāhu Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Bighayžihim Lam Yanālū Khayrāan Wa Kafá Allāhu Al-Mu'uminīna Al-Qitāla Wa Kāna Allāhu Qawīyāan `Azīzāan

God repelled the unbelievers in their rage. They could not achieve anything good. God rendered sufficient support to the believers in fighting. God is All-powerful and Majestic

Ayah 26

Waanzala allatheena thaharoohum min ahli alkitabi min sayaseehim waqathafa fee quloobihimu alrruAAba fareeqan taqtuloona watasiroona fareeqan

Wa 'Anzala Al-Ladhīna Žāharūhum Min 'Ahli Al-Kitābi Min Şayāşīhim Wa Qadhafa Fī Qulūbihimu Ar-Ru`ba Farīqāan Taqtulūna Wa Ta'sirūna Farīqāan

God brought down those among the People of the Book who had supported the confederate tribes from their castles and struck their hearts with terror. You did away with some of them and captured the others

27

Ayah 27

Waawrathakum ardahum wadiyarahum waamwalahum waardan lam tataooha wakana Allahu AAala kulli shayin qadeeran

Wa 'Awrathakum 'Arđahum Wa Diyārahum Wa 'Amwālahum Wa 'Arđāan Lam Taţa'ūhā Wa Kāna Allāhu `Alá Kulli Shay'in Qadīrāan

God made you inherit their land, houses, property, and a land on which you had never walked. God has power over all things

28

Ayah 28

Ya ayyuha alnnabiyyu qul liazwajika in kuntunna turidna alhayata alddunya wazeenataha fataAAalayna omattiAAkunna waosarrihkunna sarahan jameelan

Yā 'Ayyuhā An-Nabīyu Qul Li'zwājika 'In Kuntunna Turidna Al-Ĥayā Ata Ad-Dunyā Wa Zīnatahā Fata`ālayna 'Umatti`kunna Wa 'Usarriĥkunna Sarāĥāan Jamīlāan

Prophet, tell your wives, "If you want the worldly life and its beauty, I shall allow you to enjoy it and set you free in an honorable manner

29

Ayah 29

Wain kuntunna turidna Allaha warasoolahu waalddara alakhirata fainna Allaha aAAadda lilmuhsinati minkunna ajran AAatheeman

Wa 'In Kuntunna Turidna Allāha Wa Rasūlahu Wa Ad-Dāra Al-'Ākhirata Fa'inna Allāha 'A`adda Lilmuĥsināti Minkunna 'Ajrāan `Ažīmāan

but if you want the pleasure of God, His Messenger, and the life hereafter, know that God has prepared a great reward for the righteous ones among you

30

Ayah 30

Ya nisaa alnnabiyyi man yati minkunna bifahishatin mubayyinatin yudaAAaf laha alAAathabu diAAfayni wakana thalika AAala Allahi yaseeran

Yā Nisā'a An-Nabīyi Man Ya'ti Minkunna Bifāĥishatin Mubayyinatin Yuđā`af Lahā Al-`Adhābu Đi`fayni Wa Kāna Dhālika `Alá Allāhi Yasīrāan

Wives of the Prophet, if anyone among you commits indecency, her torment will be double. This is not at all difficult for God

31

Ayah 31

Waman yaqnut minkunna lillahi warasoolihi wataAAmal salihan nutiha ajraha marratayni waaAAtadna laha rizqan kareeman

Wa Man Yaqnut Minkunna Lillāhi Wa Rasūlihi Wa Ta`mal Şāliĥāan Nu'utihā 'Ajrahā Marratayni Wa 'A`tadnā Lahā Rizqāan Karīmāan

To whoever of you obeys God and His Messenger and acts righteously, We will give double reward and a honorable sustenance

32

Ayah 32

Ya nisaa alnnabiyyi lastunna kaahadin mina alnnisai ini ittaqaytunna fala takhdaAAna bialqawli fayatmaAAa allathee fee qalbihi maradun waqulna qawlan maAAroofan

Yā Nisā'a An-Nabīyi Lastunna Ka'aĥadin Mina An-Nisā' 'Ini Attaqaytunna Falā Takhđa`na Bil-Qawli Fayaţma`a Al-Ladhī Fī Qalbihi Marađun Wa Qulna Qawlāan Ma`rūfāan

Wives of the Prophet, you are not like other women. If you have fear of God, do not be tender in your speech lest people whose hearts are sick may lust after you

33

Ayah 33

Waqarna fee buyootikunna wala tabarrajna tabarruja aljahiliyyati aloola waaqimna alssalata waateena alzzakata waatiAAna Allaha warasoolahu innama yureedu Allahu liyuthhiba AAankumu alrrijsa ahla albayti wayutahhirakum tatheeran

Wa Qarna Fī Buyūtikunna Wa Lā Tabarrajna Tabarruja Al-Jāhilīyati Al-'Ūlá Wa 'Aqimna Aş-Şalāata Wa 'Ātīna Az-Zakāata Wa 'Aţi`na Allāha Wa Rasūlahu 'Innamā Yurīdu Allāhu Liyudh/hiba `Ankumu Ar-Rijsa 'Ahla Al-Bayti Wa Yuţahhirakum Taţhīrāan

Do not display yourselves after the manner of the (pre-Islamic) age of darkness. Be steadfast in the prayer, pay the religious tax, and obey God and His Messenger. People of the house, God wants to remove all kinds of uncleanliness from you and to purify you thoroughly

34

Ayah 34

Waothkurna ma yutla fee buyootikunna min ayati Allahi waalhikmati inna Allaha kana lateefan khabeeran

Wa Adhkurna Mā Yutlá Fī Buyūtikunna Min 'Āyāti Allāhi Wa Al-Ĥikmati 'Inna Allāha Kāna Laţīfāan Khabīrāan

Wives of the Prophet, remember the revelations of God and Words of wisdom that are recited in your homes. God is Most Kind and All-aware

35

Ayah 35

Inna almuslimeena waalmuslimati waalmumineena waalmuminati waalqaniteena waalqanitati waalssadiqeena waalssadiqati waalssabireena waalssabirati waalkhashiAAeena waalkhashiAAati waalmutasaddiqeena waalmutasaddiqati waalssaimeena waalssaimati waalhafitheena furoojahum waalhafithati waalththakireena Allaha katheeran waalththakirati aAAadda Allahu lahum maghfiratan waajran AAatheeman

Inna Al-Muslimīna Wa Al-Muslimāti Wa Al-Mu'uminīna Wa Al-Mu'umināti Wa Al-Qānitīna Wa Al-Qānitāti Wa Aş-Şādiqīna Wa Aş-Şādiqāti Wa Aş-Şābirīna Wa Aş-Şābirāti Wa Al-Khāshi`īna Wa Al-Khāshi`āti Wa Al-Mutaşaddiqīna Wa Al-Mutaşaddiqāti Wa Aş-Şā'imīna Wa Aş-Şā'imāti Wa Al-Ĥāfižīna Furūjahum Wa Al-Ĥāfižāti Wa Adh-Dhākirīna Allāha Kathīrāan Wa Adh-Dhākirāti 'A`adda Allāhu Lahum Maghfiratan Wa 'Ajrāan `Ažīmāan

God has promised forgiveness and great rewards to the Muslim men and the Muslim women, the believing men and the believing women, the obedient men and the obedient women, the truthful men and the truthful women, the forbearing men and the forbearing women, the humble men and the humble women, the alms-giving men and the alms-giving women, the fasting men and the fasting women, the chaste men and the chaste women, and the men and women who remember God very often

36

Ayah 36

Wama kana limuminin wala muminatin itha qada Allahu warasooluhu amran an yakoona lahumu alkhiyaratu min amrihim waman yaAAsi Allaha warasoolahu faqad dalla dalalan mubeenan

Wa Mā Kāna Limu'uminin Wa Lā Mu'uminatin 'Idhā Qađá Allāhu Wa Rasūluhu 'Amrāan 'An Yakūna Lahumu Al-Khiyaratu Min 'Amrihim Wa Man Ya`şi Allāha Wa Rasūlahu Faqad Đalla Đalālāan Mubīnāan

The believing men and women must not feel free to do something in their affairs other than that which has been already decided for them by God and His Messenger. One who disobeys God and His Messenger is in plain error

37

Ayah 37

Waith taqoolu lillathee anAAama Allahu AAalayhi waanAAamta AAalayhi amsik AAalayka zawjaka waittaqi Allaha watukhfee fee nafsika ma Allahu mubdeehi watakhsha alnnasa waAllahu ahaqqu an takhshahu falamma qada zaydun minha wataran zawwajnakaha likay la yakoona AAala almumineena harajun fee azwaji adAAiyaihim itha qadaw minhunna wataran wakana amru Allahi mafAAoolan

Wa 'Idh Taqūlu Lilladhī 'An`ama Allāhu `Alayhi Wa 'An`amta `Alayhi 'Amsik `Alayka Zawjaka Wa Attaqi Allāha Wa Tukhfī Fī Nafsika Mā Allāhu Mubdīhi Wa Takhshá An-Nāsa Wa Allāhu 'Aĥaqqu 'An Takhshāhu Falammā Qađá Zaydun Minhā Waţarāan Zawwajnākahā Likay Lā Yakūna `Alá Al-Mu'uminīna Ĥarajun Fī 'Azwāji 'Ad`iyā'ihim 'Idhā Qađaw Minhunna Waţarāan Wa Kāna 'Amru Allāhi Maf`ūlāan

Say to the person to whom you and God have granted favor, "Keep your wife and have fear of God. You hide within yourself what God wants to make public. You are afraid of people while it is God whom one should fear." When Zayd set her free, We gave her in marriage to you so that the believers would not face difficulties about the wives of their adopted sons when they are divorced. God's decree has already been issued

Ayah 38

Ma kana AAala alnnabiyyi min harajin feema farada Allahu lahu sunnata Allahi fee allatheena khalaw min qablu wakana amru Allahi qadaran maqdooran

Mā Kāna `Alá An-Nabīyi Min Ĥarajin Fīmā Farađa Allāhu Lahu Sunnata Allāhi Fī Al-Ladhīna Khalaw Min Qablu Wa Kāna 'Amru Allāhi Qadarāan Maqdūrāan

The Prophet cannot be blamed for carrying out the commands of God. It was the tradition of God with those who lived before. The command of God has already been decreed and ordained

Ayah 39

Allatheena yuballighoona risalati Allahi wayakhshawnahu wala yakhshawna ahadan illa Allaha wakafa biAllahi haseeban

Al-Ladhīna Yuballighūna Risālāti Allāhi Wa Yakhshawnahu Wa Lā Yakhshawna 'Aĥadāan 'Illā Allāha Wa Kafá Billāhi Ĥasībāan

Those who preach the message of God and are humble before Him should not be afraid of anyone besides God. God is Sufficient in keeping the account

Ayah 40

Ma kana muhammadun aba ahadin min rijalikum walakin rasoola Allahi wakhatama alnnabiyyeena wakana Allahu bikulli shayin AAaleeman

Mā Kāna Muĥammadun 'Abā 'Aĥadin Min Rijālikum Wa Lakin Rasūla Allāhi Wa Khātama An-Nabīyīna Wa Kāna Allāhu Bikulli Shay'in `Alīmāan

Muhammad is not the father of any of your males. He is the Messenger of God and the last Prophet. God has the knowledge of all things

Ayah 41

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo othkuroo Allaha thikran katheeran

Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Adhkurū Allāha Dhikrāan Kathīrāan

Believers, remember God very often

Ayah 42

Wasabbihoohu bukratan waaseelan

Wa Sabbiĥūhu Bukratan Wa 'Aşīlāan

and glorify Him both in the mornings and in the evenings

Ayah 43

Huwa allathee yusallee AAalaykum wamalaikatuhu liyukhrijakum mina alththulumati ila alnnoori wakana bialmumineena raheeman

Huwa Al-Ladhī Yuşallī `Alaykum Wa Malā'ikatuhu Liyukhrijakum Mina Až-Žulumāti 'Ilá An-Nūri Wa Kāna Bil-Mu'uminīna Raĥīmāan

It is He who forgives you and His angels pray for you so that He will take you out of darkness into light. God is All-merciful to the believers

Ayah 44

Tahiyyatuhum yawma yalqawnahu salamun waaAAadda lahum ajran kareeman

Taĥīyatuhum Yawma Yalqawnahu Salāmun Wa 'A`adda Lahum 'Ajrāan Karīmāan

On the day when they will be brought into the presence of their Lord, their greeting to each other will be, "Peace be with you." God has prepared an honorable reward for them

Ayah 45

Ya ayyuha alnnabiyyu inna arsalnaka shahidan wamubashshiran wanatheeran

Yā 'Ayyuhā An-Nabīyu 'Innā 'Arsalnāka Shāhidāan Wa Mubashirāan Wa Nadhīrāan

Prophet, We have sent you as a witness, a bearer of glad news, a warner

Ayah 46

WadaAAiyan ila Allahi biithnihi wasirajan muneeran

Wa Dā`īāan 'Ilá Allāhi Bi'idhnihi Wa Sirājāan Munīrāan

a preacher for God by His permission and as a shining torch

47

Ayah 47

Wabashshiri almumineena bianna lahum mina Allahi fadlan kabeeran

Wa Bashiri Al-Mu'uminīna Bi'anna Lahum Mina Allāhi Fađlāan Kabīrāan

Give glad news to the believers of their receiving great favor from God

Ayah 48

Wala tutiAAi alkafireena waalmunafiqeena wadaAA athahum watawakkal AAala Allahi wakafa biAllahi wakeelan

Wa Lā Tuţi`i Al-Kāfirīna Wa Al-Munāfiqīna Wa Da` 'Adhāhum Wa Tawakkal `Alá Allāhi Wa Kafá Billāhi Wa Kīlāan

Do not yield to the disbelievers or the hypocrites. Ignore their annoying you. Trust in God. God is your all Sufficient Protector

Ayah 49

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo itha nakahtumu almuminati thumma tallaqtumoohunna min qabli an tamassoohunna fama lakum AAalayhinna min AAiddatin taAAtaddoonaha famattiAAoohunna wasarrihoohunna sarahan jameelan

Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū 'Idhā Nakaĥtumu Al-Mu'umināti Thumma Ţallaqtumūhunna Min Qabli 'An Tamassūhunna Famā Lakum `Alayhinna Min `Iddatin Ta`taddūnahā Famatti`ūhunna Wa Sarriĥūhunna Sarāĥāan Jamīlāan

Believers, if you marry believing women and then divorce them before the consummation of the marriage, they do not have to observe the waiting period. Give them their provisions and set them free in an honorable manner

Ya ayyuha alnnabiyyu inna ahlalna laka azwajaka allatee atayta ojoorahunna wama malakat yameenuka mimma afaa Allahu AAalayka wabanati AAammika wabanati AAammatika wabanati khalika wabanati khalatika allatee hajarna maAAaka waimraatan muminatan in wahabat nafsaha lilnnabiyyi in arada alnnabiyyu an yastankihaha khalisatan laka min dooni almumineena qad AAalimna ma faradna AAalayhim fee azwajihim wama malakat aymanuhum likayla yakoona AAalayka harajun wakana Allahu ghafooran raheeman

Yā 'Ayyuhā An-Nabīyu 'Innā 'Aĥlalnā Laka 'Azwājaka Al-Lātī 'Ātayta 'Ujūrahunna Wa Mā Malakat Yamīnuka Mimmā 'Afā'a Allāhu `Alayka Wa Banāti `Ammika Wa Banāti `Ammātika Wa Banāti Khālika Wa Banāti Khālātika Al-Lātī Hājarna Ma`aka Wa Amra'atan Mu'uminatan 'In Wahabat Nafsahā Lilnnabīyi 'In 'Arāda An-Nabīyu 'An Yastankiĥahā Khālişatan Laka Min Dūni Al-Mu'uminīna Qad `Alimnā Mā Farađnā `Alayhim Fī 'Azwājihim Wa Mā Malakat 'Aymānuhum Likaylā Yakūna `Alayka Ĥarajun Wa Kāna Allāhu Ghafūrāan Raĥīmāan

Prophet, We have made lawful for you your wives whom you have given their dowry, slave girls whom God has given to you as gifts, the daughters of your uncles and aunts, both paternal and maternal, who have migrated with you. The believing woman, who has offered herself to the Prophet and whom the Prophet may want to marry, will be specially for him, not for other believers. We knew what to make obligatory for them concerning their wives and slave girls so that you would face no hardship (because we have given distinction to you over the believers). God is All-forgiving and All-merciful

Ayah 51

Turjee man tashao minhunna watuwee ilayka man tashao wamani ibtaghayta mimman AAazalta fala junaha AAalayka thalika adna an taqarra aAAyunuhunna wala yahzanna wayardayna bima ataytahunna kulluhunna waAllahu yaAAlamu ma fee quloobikum wakana Allahu AAaleeman haleeman

Turjī Man Tashā'u Minhunna Wa Tu'uwī 'Ilayka Man Tashā'u Wa Mani Abtaghayta Mimman `Azalta Falā Junāĥa `Alayka Dhālika 'Adná 'An Taqarra 'A`yunuhunna Wa Lā Yaĥzanna Wa Yarđayna Bimā 'Ātaytahunna Kulluhunna Wa Allāhu Ya`lamu Mā Fī Qulūbikum Wa Kāna Allāhu `Alīmāan Ĥalīmāan

You may refuse whichever (of the woman who offer themselves to you) as you want and accept whichever of them you wish. There is no blame on you if you marry (one whom you had refused previously). This would be more delightful for them. They should not be grieved but should be happy with whatever you have given to every one of them. God knows what is in your hearts. God is All-knowing and All-forbearing

Ayah 52

La yahillu laka alnnisao min baAAdu wala an tabaddala bihinna min azwajin walaw aAAjabaka husnuhunna illa ma malakat yameenuka wakana Allahu AAala kulli shayin raqeeban

Lā Yaĥillu Laka An-Nisā' Min Ba`du Wa Lā 'An Tabaddala Bihinna Min 'Azwājin Wa Law 'A`jabaka Ĥusnuhunna 'Illā Mā Malakat Yamīnuka Wa Kāna Allāhu `Alá Kulli Shay'in Raqībāan

Besides these, other women are not lawful for you to marry nor is it lawful for you to exchange your wives for the wives of others (except for the slave girls), even though they may seem attractive to you. God is watchful over all things

Ayah 53

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tadkhuloo buyoota alnnabiyyi illa an yuthana lakum ila taAAamin ghayra nathireena inahu walakin itha duAAeetum faodkhuloo faitha taAAimtum faintashiroo wala mustaniseena lihadeethin inna thalikum kana yuthee alnnabiyya fayastahyee minkum waAllahu la yastahyee mina alhaqqi waitha saaltumoohunna mataAAan faisaloohunna min warai hijabin thalikum atharu liquloobikum waquloobihinna wama kana lakum an tuthoo rasoola Allahi wala an tankihoo azwajahu min baAAdihi abadan inna thalikum kana AAinda Allahi AAatheeman

Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Lā Tadkhulū Buyūta An-Nabīyi 'Illā 'An Yu'udhana Lakum 'Ilá Ţa`āmin Ghayra Nāžirīna 'Ināhu Wa Lakin 'Idhā Du`ītum Fādkhulū Fa'idhā Ţa`imtum Fāntashirū Wa Lā Musta'nisīna Liĥadīthin 'Inna Dhālikum Kāna Yu'udhī An-Nabīya Fayastaĥyi Minkum Wa Allāhu Lā Yastaĥyi Mina Al-Ĥaqqi Wa 'Idhā Sa'altumūhunna Matā`āan Fās'alūhunna Min Warā'i Ĥijābin Dhālikum 'Aţharu Liqulūbikum Wa Qulūbihinna Wa Mā Kāna Lakum 'An Tu'udhū Rasūla Allāhi Wa Lā 'An Tankiĥū 'Azwājahu Min Ba`dihi 'Abadāan 'Inna Dhālikum Kāna `Inda Allāhi `Ažīmāan

Believers, do not enter the houses of the Prophet for a meal without permission. if you are invited, you may enter, but be punctual (so that you will not be waiting while the meal is being prepared). When you have finished eating, leave his home. Do not sit around chatting among yourselves. This will annoy the Prophet but he will feel embarrassed to tell you. God does not feel embarrassed to tell you the truth. When you want to ask something from the wives of the Prophet, ask them from behind the curtain. This would be more proper for you and for them. You are not supposed to trouble the Prophet or to ever marry his wives after his death, for this would be a grave offense in the sight of God

Ayah 54

In tubdoo shayan aw tukhfoohu fainna Allaha kana bikulli shayin AAaleeman

In Tubdū Shay'āan 'Aw Tukhfūhu Fa'inna Allāha Kāna Bikulli Shay'in `Alīmāan

Whether you reveal something or hid it, God has the knowledge of all things

Ayah 55

La junaha AAalayhinna fee abaihinna wala abnaihinna wala ikhwanihinna wala abnai ikhwanihinna wala abnai akhawatihinna wala nisaihinna wala ma malakat aymanuhunna waittaqeena Allaha inna Allaha kana AAala kulli shayin shaheedan

Lā Junāĥa `Alayhinna Fī 'Ābā'ihinna Wa Lā 'Abnā'ihinna Wa Lā 'Ikhwānihinna Wa Lā 'Abnā'i 'Ikhwānihinna Wa Lā 'Abnā'i 'Akhawātihinna Wa Lā Nisā'ihinna Wa Lā Mā Malakat 'Aymānuhunna Wa Attaqīna Allāha 'Inna Allāha Kāna `Alá Kulli Shay'in Shahīdāan

It will not be an offense for the wives of the Prophet (not to observe the modest dress) in the presence of their fathers, sons, brothers, sons of their brothers and sisters, their own women, and their slave-girls. They should have fear of God. God witness all things

Ayah 56

Inna Allaha wamalaikatahu yusalloona AAala alnnabiyyi ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo salloo AAalayhi wasallimoo tasleeman

Inna Allāha Wa Malā'ikatahu Yuşallūna `Alá An-Nabīyi Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Şallū `Alayhi Wa Sallimū Taslīmāan

God showers His blessings upon the Prophet and the angels seek forgiveness for him. Believers, pray for the Prophet and greet him with, "Peace be with you

Ayah 57

Inna allatheena yuthoona Allaha warasoolahu laAAanahumu Allahu fee alddunya waalakhirati waaAAadda lahum AAathaban muheenan

Inna Al-Ladhīna Yu'udhūna Allāha Wa Rasūlahu La`anahumu Allāhu Fī Ad-Dunyā Wa Al-'Ākhirati Wa 'A`adda Lahum `Adhābāan Muhīnāan

Those who annoy God and His Messenger will be condemned by God in this life and in the life to come. He has prepared for them a humiliating torment

Ayah 58

Waallatheena yuthoona almumineena waalmuminati bighayri ma iktasaboo faqadi ihtamaloo buhtanan waithman mubeenan

Wa Al-Ladhīna Yu'udhūna Al-Mu'uminīna Wa Al-Mu'umināti Bighayri Mā Aktasabū Faqadi Aĥtamalū Buhtānāan Wa 'Ithmāan Mubīnāan

Those who annoy the believing men and women without reason will bear the sin for a false accusation, a manifest offense

Ayah 59

Ya ayyuha alnnabiyyu qul liazwajika wabanatika wanisai almumineena yudneena AAalayhinna min jalabeebihinna thalika adna an yuAArafna fala yuthayna wakana Allahu ghafooran raheeman

Yā 'Ayyuhā An-Nabīyu Qul Li'zwājika Wa Banātika Wa Nisā'i Al-Mu'uminīna Yudnīna `Alayhinna Min Jalābībihinna Dhālika 'Adná 'An Yu`rafna Falā Yu'udhayna Wa Kāna Allāhu Ghafūrāan Raĥīmāan

Prophet, tell your wives, daughters, and the wives of the believers to cover their bosoms and breasts. This will make them distinguishable from others and protect them from being annoyed. God is All-forgiving and All-merciful

Ayah 60

Lain lam yantahi almunafiqoona waallatheena fee quloobihim maradun waalmurjifoona fee almadeenati lanughriyannaka bihim thumma la yujawiroonaka feeha illa qaleelan

La'in Lam Yantahi Al-Munāfiqūna Wa Al-Ladhīna Fī Qulūbihim Marađun Wa Al-Murjifūna Fī Al-Madīnati Lanughriyannaka Bihim Thumma Lā Yujāwirūnaka Fīhā 'Illā Qalīlāan

If the hypocrites, those whose hearts are sick and those who encourage the spread of evil in the city, will not desist, We shall arouse you against them and they will only be allowed to be your neighbors for a short while

61

Ayah 61

MalAAooneena aynama thuqifoo okhithoo waquttiloo taqteelan

Mal`ūnīna 'Aynamā Thuqifū 'Ukhidhū Wa Quttilū Taqtīlāan

They will be condemned wherever they are and will be sized and done away with for good

62

Ayah 62

Sunnata Allahi fee allatheena khalaw min qablu walan tajida lisunnati Allahi tabdeelan

Sunnata Allāhi Fī Al-Ladhīna Khalaw Min Qablu Wa Lan Tajida Lisunnati Allāhi Tabdīlāan

This was the tradition of God with those who lived before. There will never be any change in the tradition of God

63

Ayah 63

Yasaluka alnnasu AAani alssaAAati qul innama AAilmuha AAinda Allahi wama yudreeka laAAalla alssaAAata takoonu qareeban

Yas'aluka An-Nāsu `Ani As-Sā`ati Qul 'Innamā `Ilmuhā `Inda Allāhi Wa Mā Yudrīka La`alla As-Sā`ata Takūnu Qarībāan

(Muhammad), people ask you about the Day of Judgment. Say, "Only God has knowledge about it. Perhaps the Hour of Doom will soon come to pass

Ayah 64

Inna Allaha laAAana alkafireena waaAAadda lahum saAAeeran

Inna Allāha La`ana Al-Kāfirīna Wa 'A`adda Lahum Sa`īrāan

God has condemned the unbelievers and prepared for them a burning torment

65

Ayah 65

Khalideena feeha abadan la yajidoona waliyyan wala naseeran

Khālidīna Fīhā 'Abadāan Lā Yajidūna Walīyāan Wa Lā Naşīrāan

wherein they will live forever without being able to find any guardian or helper

66

Ayah 66

Yawma tuqallabu wujoohuhum fee alnnari yaqooloona ya laytana ataAAna Allaha waataAAna alrrasoola

Yawma Tuqallabu Wujūhuhum Fī An-Nāri Yaqūlūna Yā Laytanā 'Aţa`nā Allāha Wa 'Aţa`nā Ar-Rasūlā

On the day when their faces will be turned from side to side on the fire, they will say, "Would that we had obeyed God and the Messenger

67

Ayah 67

Waqaloo rabbana inna ataAAna sadatana wakubaraana faadalloona alssabeela

Wa Qālū Rabbanā 'Innā 'Aţa`nā Sādatanā Wa Kubarā'anā Fa'ađallūnā As-Sabīlā

They will say, "Lord, we obeyed our chiefs and elders and they caused us to go astray

Ayah 68

Rabbana atihim diAAfayni mina alAAathabi wailAAanhum laAAnan kabeeran

Rabbanā 'Ātihim Đi`fayni Mina Al-`Adhābi Wa Al-`Anhum La`nāan Kabīrāan

Lord, make them to suffer double torment and subject them to the greatest condemnation

69

Ayah 69

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la takoonoo kaallatheena athaw moosa fabarraahu Allahu mimma qaloo wakana AAinda Allahi wajeehan

Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Lā Takūnū Kālladhīna 'Ādhaw Mūsá Fabarra'ahu Allāhu Mimmā Qālū Wa Kāna `Inda Allāhi Wajīhāan

Believers, do not be like those who annoyed Moses. God proved him to be innocent of what they had said about him. Moses was a honorable person in the sight of God

70

Ayah 70

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo ittaqoo Allaha waqooloo qawlan sadeedan

Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Attaqū Allāha Wa Qūlū Qawlāan Sadīdāan

Believers, have fear of God and speak righteous words

71

Ayah 71

Yuslih lakum aAAmalakum wayaghfir lakum thunoobakum waman yutiAAi Allaha warasoolahu faqad faza fawzan AAatheeman

Yuşliĥ Lakum 'A`mālakum Wa Yaghfir Lakum Dhunūbakum Wa Man Yuţi`i Allāha Wa Rasūlahu Faqad Fāza Fawzāan `Ažīmāan

God will reform your deeds and forgive your sins. One who obeys God and His Messenger will certainly achieve a great success

72

Ayah 72

Inna AAaradna alamanata AAala alssamawati waalardi waaljibali faabayna an yahmilnaha waashfaqna minha wahamalaha alinsanu innahu kana thalooman jahoolan

Innā `Arađnā Al-'Amānata `Alá As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Wa Al-Jibāli Fa'abayna 'An Yaĥmilnahā Wa 'Ashfaqna Minhā Wa Ĥamalahā Al-'Insānu 'Innahu Kāna Žalūmāan Jahūlāan

We offered Our Trust (Our deputation) to the heavens, to the earth, and to the mountains, but they could not bear this burden and were afraid to accept it. Mankind was able to accept this offer but he was unjust to himself and ignorant of the significance of this Trust

73

Ayah 73

LiyuAAaththiba Allahu almunafiqeena waalmunafiqati waalmushrikeena waalmushrikati wayatooba Allahu AAala almumineena waalmuminati wakana Allahu ghafooran raheeman

Liyu`adhiba Allāhu Al-Munāfiqīna Wa Al-Munāfiqāti Wa Al-Mushrikīna Wa Al-Mushrikāti Wa Yatūba Allāhu `Alá Al-Mu'uminīna Wa Al-Mu'umināti Wa Kāna Allāhu Ghafūrāan Raĥīmāan

(As a result of this) God will punish the hypocrites and the pagans, but He will accept the repentance of the believers. God is All-forgiving and All-merciful
