سُورَةُ سَبَإٍ

Meccan 54 Verses

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1

Ayah 1

Alhamdu lillahi allathee lahu ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi walahu alhamdu fee alakhirati wahuwa alhakeemu alkhabeeru

Al-Ĥamdu Lillāhi Al-Ladhī Lahu Mā Fī As-Samāwāti Wa Mā Fī Al-'Arđi Wa Lahu Al-Ĥamdu Fī Al-'Ākhirati Wa Huwa Al-Ĥakīmu Al-Khabīru

All praise belongs to Allah to whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. To Him belongs all praise in the Hereafter, and He is the All-wise, the All-aware

Ayah 2

YaAAlamu ma yaliju fee alardi wama yakhruju minha wama yanzilu mina alssamai wama yaAAruju feeha wahuwa alrraheemu alghafooru

Ya`lamu Mā Yaliju Fī Al-'Arđi Wa Mā Yakhruju Minhā Wa Mā Yanzilu Mina As-Samā'i Wa Mā Ya`ruju Fīhā Wa Huwa Ar-Raĥīmu Al-Ghafūru

He knows whatever enters into the earth and whatever emerges from it, and whatever descends from the sky and whatever ascends into it, and He is the All-merciful, the All-forgiving

Ayah 3

Waqala allatheena kafaroo la tateena alssaAAatu qul bala warabbee latatiyannakum AAalimi alghaybi la yaAAzubu AAanhu mithqalu tharratin fee alssamawati wala fee alardi wala asgharu min thalika wala akbaru illa fee kitabin mubeenin

Wa Qāla Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Lā Ta'tīnā As-Sā`atu Qul Balá Wa Rabbī Lata'tiyannakum `Ālimi Al-Ghaybi Lā Ya`zubu `Anhu Mithqālu Dharratin Fī As-Samāwāti Wa Lā Fī Al-'Arđi Wa Lā 'Aşgharu Min Dhālika Wa Lā 'Akbaru 'Illā Fī Kitābin Mubīnin

The faithless say, ‘The Hour will not overtake us.’ Say, ‘Yes, indeed it will surely overtake you, by my Lord,’ the Knower of the Unseen; not [even] an atom’s weight escapes Him in the heavens or in the earth, nor [is there] anything smaller than that nor bigger, but it is in a manifest Book

Ayah 4

Liyajziya allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati olaika lahum maghfiratun warizqun kareemun

Liyajziya Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa `Amilū Aş-Şāliĥāti 'Ūlā'ika Lahum Maghfiratun Wa Rizqun Karīmun

that He may reward those who have faith and do righteous deeds.’ For such there will be forgiveness and a noble provision

Ayah 5

Waallatheena saAAaw fee ayatina muAAajizeena olaika lahum AAathabun min rijzin aleemin

Wa Al-Ladhīna Sa`aw Fī 'Āyātinā Mu`ājizīna 'Ūlā'ika Lahum `Adhābun Min Rijzin 'Alīmun

But those who contend with Our signs seeking to frustrate [their purpose], for such is a painful punishment due to defilement

Ayah 6

Wayara allatheena ootoo alAAilma allathee onzila ilayka min rabbika huwa alhaqqa wayahdee ila sirati alAAazeezi alhameedi

Wa Yará Al-Ladhīna 'Ūtū Al-`Ilma Al-Ladhī 'Unzila 'Ilayka Min Rabbika Huwa Al-Ĥaqqa Wa Yahdī 'Ilá Şirāţi Al-`Azīzi Al-Ĥamīdi

Those who have been given knowledge see that what has been sent down to you from your Lord is the truth and [that] it guides to the path of the All-mighty, the All-laudable

Ayah 7

Waqala allatheena kafaroo hal nadullukum AAala rajulin yunabbiokum itha muzziqtum kulla mumazzaqin innakum lafee khalqin jadeedin

Wa Qāla Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Hal Nadullukum `Alá Rajulin Yunabbi'ukum 'Idhā Muzziqtum Kulla Mumazzaqin 'Innakum Lafī Khalqin Jadīdin

The faithless say, ‘Shall we show you a man who will inform you [that] when you have been totally rent to pieces you will indeed have a new creation

Ayah 8

Aftara AAala Allahi kathiban am bihi jinnatun bali allatheena la yuminoona bialakhirati fee alAAathabi waalddalali albaAAeedi

Āftará `Alá Allāhi Kadhibāan 'Am Bihi Jinnatun Bali Al-Ladhīna Lā Yu'uminūna Bil-'Ākhirati Fī Al-`Adhābi Wa Ađ-Đalāli Al-Ba`īdi

Has he fabricated a lie against Allah, or is there a madness in him?’ Indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter languish in punishment and extreme error

Ayah 9

Afalam yaraw ila ma bayna aydeehim wama khalfahum mina alssamai waalardi in nasha nakhsif bihimu alarda aw nusqit AAalayhim kisafan mina alssamai inna fee thalika laayatan likulli AAabdin muneebin

Afalam Yaraw 'Ilá Mā Bayna 'Aydīhim Wa Mā Khalfahum Mina As-Samā'i Wa Al-'Arđi 'In Nasha' Nakhsif Bihimu Al-'Arđa 'Aw Nusqiţ `Alayhim Kisafāan Mina As-Samā'i 'Inna Fī Dhālika La'āyatan Likulli `Abdin Munībin

Have they not regarded that which is before them and that which is behind them of the sky and the earth? If We like, We can make the earth swallow them, or let a fragment from the sky fall on them. There is indeed a sign in that for every penitent servant

Ayah 10

Walaqad atayna dawooda minna fadlan ya jibalu awwibee maAAahu waalttayra waalanna lahu alhadeeda

Wa Laqad 'Ātaynā Dāwūda Minnā Fađlāan Yā Jibālu 'Awwibī Ma`ahu Wa Aţ-Ţayra Wa 'Alannā Lahu Al-Ĥadīda

Certainly We gave David our grace: ‘O mountains and birds, chime in with him!’ And We made iron soft for him

Ayah 11

Ani iAAmal sabighatin waqaddir fee alssardi waiAAmaloo salihan innee bima taAAmaloona baseerun

Ani A`mal Sābighātin Wa Qaddir Fī As-Sardi Wa A`malū Şāliĥāan 'Innī Bimā Ta`malūna Başīrun

saying, ‘Make easy coats of mail, and keep the measure in arranging [the links], and act righteously. Indeed I watch what you do.’

Ayah 12

Walisulaymana alrreeha ghuduwwuha shahrun warawahuha shahrun waasalna lahu AAayna alqitri wamina aljinni man yaAAmalu bayna yadayhi biithni rabbihi waman yazigh minhum AAan amrina nuthiqhu min AAathabi alssaAAeeri

Wa Lisulaymāna Ar-Rīĥa Ghudūwuhā Shahrun Wa Rawāĥuhā Shahrun Wa 'Asalnā Lahu `Ayna Al-Qiţri Wa Mina Al-Jinni Man Ya`malu Bayna Yadayhi Bi'idhni Rabbihi Wa Man Yazigh Minhum `An 'Amrinā Nudhiqhu Min `Adhābi As-Sa`īri

And for Solomon [We subjected] the wind: its morning course was a month’s journey and its evening course was a month’s journey. We made a fount of [molten] copper flow for him, and [We placed at his service] some of the jinn who would work for him by the permission of his Lord, and if any of them swerved from Our command, We would make him taste the punishment of the Blaze

Ayah 13

YaAAmaloona lahu ma yashao min mahareeba watamatheela wajifanin kaaljawabi waqudoorin rasiyatin iAAmaloo ala dawooda shukran waqaleelun min AAibadiya alshshakooru

Ya`malūna Lahu Mā Yashā'u Min Maĥārība Wa Tamāthīla Wa Jifānin Kāljawābi Wa Qudūrin Rāsiyātin A`malū 'Āla Dāwūda Shukrāan Wa Qalīlun Min `Ibādiya Ash-Shakūru

They built for him as many temples as he wished, and figures, basins like cisterns, and caldrons fixed [in the ground]. ‘O House of David, act thankfully, and few of My servants are grateful.’

Ayah 14

Falamma qadayna AAalayhi almawta ma dallahum AAala mawtihi illa dabbatu alardi takulu minsaatahu falamma kharra tabayyanati aljinnu an law kanoo yaAAlamoona alghayba ma labithoo fee alAAathabi almuheeni

Falammā Qađaynā `Alayhi Al-Mawta Mā Dallahum `Alá Mawtihi 'Illā Dābbatu Al-'Arđi Ta'kulu Minsa'atahu Falammā Kharra Tabayyanati Al-Jinnu 'An Law Kānū Ya`lamūna Al-Ghayba Mā Labithū Fī Al-`Adhābi Al-Muhīni

When We decreed death for him, nothing apprised them of his death except a worm which gnawed away at his staff. And when he fell down, [the humans] realized that had the jinn known the Unseen, they would not have remained in a humiliating torment

Ayah 15

Laqad kana lisabain fee maskanihim ayatun jannatani AAan yameenin washimalin kuloo min rizqi rabbikum waoshkuroo lahu baldatun tayyibatun warabbun ghafoorun

Laqad Kāna Lisaba'iin Fī Maskanihim 'Āyatun Jannatāni `An Yamīnin Wa Shimālin Kulū Min Rizqi Rabbikum Wa Ashkurū Lahu Baldatun Ţayyibatun Wa Rabbun Ghafūrun

There was certainly a sign for Sheba in their habitation: two gardens, to the right and to the left. ‘Eat of the provision of your Lord and give Him thanks: a good land and an all-forgiving Lord!’

Ayah 16

FaaAAradoo faarsalna AAalayhim sayla alAAarimi wabaddalnahum bijannatayhim jannatayni thawatay okulin khamtin waathlin washayin min sidrin qaleelin

Fa'a`rađū Fa'arsalnā `Alayhim Sayla Al-`Arimi Wa Baddalnāhum Bijannatayhim Jannatayni Dhawātá 'Ukulin Khamţin Wa 'Athlin Wa Shay'in Min Sidrin Qalīlin

But they disregarded [the path of Allah], so We unleashed upon them a violent flood and replaced their two gardens with two gardens bearing bitter fruit, tamarisk, and sparse lote trees

Ayah 17

Thalika jazaynahum bima kafaroo wahal nujazee illa alkafoora

Dhālika Jazaynāhum Bimā Kafarū Wa Hal Nujāzī 'Illā Al-Kafūra

We requited them with that for their ingratitude. Do We not requite ingrates

18

Ayah 18

WajaAAalna baynahum wabayna alqura allatee barakna feeha quran thahiratan waqaddarna feeha alssayra seeroo feeha layaliya waayyaman amineena

Wa Ja`alnā Baynahum Wa Bayna Al-Qurá Allatī Bāraknā Fīhā Quráan Žāhiratan Wa Qaddarnā Fīhā As-Sayra Sīrū Fīhā Layāliya Wa 'Ayyāmāan 'Āminīna

We had placed between them and the towns which We had blessed hamlets prominent [from the main route], and We had ordained the course through them: ‘Travel through them in safety, night and day.’

Ayah 19

Faqaloo rabbana baAAid bayna asfarina wathalamoo anfusahum fajaAAalnahum ahadeetha wamazzaqnahum kulla mumazzaqin inna fee thalika laayatin likulli sabbarin shakoorin

Faqālū Rabbanā Bā`id Bayna 'Asfārinā Wa Žalamū 'Anfusahum Faja`alnāhum 'Aĥādītha Wa Mazzaqnāhum Kulla Mumazzaqin 'Inna Fī Dhālika La'āyātin Likulli Şabbārin Shakūrin

But they said, ‘Our Lord! Make the stages between our journeys far apart,’ and they wronged themselves. So We turned them into folktales and caused them to disintegrate totally. There are indeed signs in that for every patient and grateful [servant]

Ayah 20

Walaqad saddaqa AAalayhim ibleesu thannahu faittabaAAoohu illa fareeqan mina almumineena

Wa Laqad Şaddaqa `Alayhim 'Iblīsu Žannahu Fa Attaba`ūhu 'Illā Farīqāan Mina Al-Mu'uminīna

Certainly Iblis had his conjecture come true about them. So they followed him—all except a part of the faithful

Ayah 21

Wama kana lahu AAalayhim min sultanin illa linaAAlama man yuminu bialakhirati mimman huwa minha fee shakkin warabbuka AAala kulli shayin hafeethun

Wa Mā Kāna Lahu `Alayhim Min Sulţānin 'Illā Lina`lama Man Yu'uminu Bil-'Ākhirati Mimman Huwa Minhā Fī Shakkin Wa Rabbuka `Alá Kulli Shay'in Ĥafīžun

He had no authority over them, but that We may ascertain those who believe in the Hereafter from those who are in doubt about it, and your Lord is watchful over all things

22

Ayah 22

Quli odAAoo allatheena zaAAamtum min dooni Allahi la yamlikoona mithqala tharratin fee alssamawati wala fee alardi wama lahum feehima min shirkin wama lahu minhum min thaheerin

Qul Ad`ū Al-Ladhīna Za`amtum Min Dūni Allāhi Lā Yamlikūna Mithqāla Dharratin Fī As-Samāwāti Wa Lā Fī Al-'Arđi Wa Mā Lahum Fīhimā Min Shirkin Wa Mā Lahu Minhum Min Žahīrin

Say, ‘Invoke those whom you claim [to be gods] besides Allah! They do not control [even] an atom’s weight in the heavens or the earth, nor do they have any share in [either of] them, nor is any of them His helper.’

Ayah 23

Wala tanfaAAu alshshafaAAatu AAindahu illa liman athina lahu hatta itha fuzziAAa AAan quloobihim qaloo matha qala rabbukum qaloo alhaqqa wahuwa alAAaliyyu alkabeeru

Wa Lā Tanfa`u Ash-Shafā`atu `Indahu 'Illā Liman 'Adhina Lahu Ĥattá 'Idhā Fuzzi`a `An Qulūbihim Qālū Mādhā Qāla Rabbukum Qālū Al-Ĥaqqa Wa Huwa Al-`Alīyu Al-Kabīru

Intercession is of no avail with Him, except for those whom He permits. When fear is lifted from their hearts, they say, ‘What did your Lord say?’ They say, ‘The truth, and He is the All-exalted, the All-great.’

Ayah 24

Qul man yarzuqukum mina alssamawati waalardi quli Allahu wainna aw iyyakum laAAala hudan aw fee dalalin mubeenin

Qul Man Yarzuqukum Mina As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Quli Allāhu Wa 'Innā 'Aw 'Īyākum La`alá Hudáan 'Aw Fī Đalālin Mubīnin

Say, ‘Who provides for you from the heavens and the earth?’ Say, ‘Allah! Indeed either we or you are rightly guided or in manifest error.’

25

Ayah 25

Qul la tusaloona AAamma ajramna wala nusalu AAamma taAAmaloona

Qul Lā Tus'alūna `Ammā 'Ajramnā Wa Lā Nus'alu `Ammā Ta`malūna

Say, ‘You will not be questioned about our guilt, nor shall we be questioned about what you do.’

26

Ayah 26

Qul yajmaAAu baynana rabbuna thumma yaftahu baynana bialhaqqi wahuwa alfattahu alAAaleemu

Qul Yajma`u Baynanā Rabbunā Thumma Yaftaĥu Baynanā Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa Huwa Al-Fattāĥu Al-`Alīmu

Say, ‘Our Lord will bring us together, then He will judge between us with justice, and He is the All-knowing Judge.’

27

Ayah 27

Qul arooniya allatheena alhaqtum bihi shurakaa kalla bal huwa Allahu alAAazeezu alhakeemu

Qul 'Arūniya Al-Ladhīna 'Alĥaqtum Bihi Shurakā'a Kallā Bal Huwa Allāhu Al-`Azīzu Al-Ĥakīmu

Say, ‘Show me those whom you associate with Him as partners.’ No! [They can never show any such partner]. Indeed, He is Allah, the All-mighty, the All-wise

28

Ayah 28

Wama arsalnaka illa kaffatan lilnnasi basheeran wanatheeran walakinna akthara alnnasi la yaAAlamoona

Wa Mā 'Arsalnāka 'Illā Kāffatan Lilnnāsi Bashīrāan Wa Nadhīrāan Wa Lakinna 'Akthara An-Nāsi Lā Ya`lamūna

We did not send you except as a bearer of good news and warner to all mankind, but most people do not know

29

Ayah 29

Wayaqooloona mata hatha alwaAAdu in kuntum sadiqeena

Wa Yaqūlūna Matá Hādhā Al-Wa`du 'In Kuntum Şādiqīna

They say, ‘When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?’

30

Ayah 30

Qul lakum meeAAadu yawmin la tastakhiroona AAanhu saAAatan wala tastaqdimoona

Qul Lakum Mī`ādu Yawmin Lā Tasta'khirūna `Anhu Sā`atan Wa Lā Tastaqdimūna

Say, ‘Your promised hour is a day that you shall neither defer nor advance by an hour.’

31

Ayah 31

Waqala allatheena kafaroo lan numina bihatha alqurani wala biallathee bayna yadayhi walaw tara ithi alththalimoona mawqoofoona AAinda rabbihim yarjiAAu baAAduhum ila baAAdin alqawla yaqoolu allatheena istudAAifoo lillatheena istakbaroo lawla antum lakunna mumineena

Wa Qāla Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Lan Nu'umina Bihadhā Al-Qur'āni Wa Lā Bial-Ladhī Bayna Yadayhi Wa Law Tará 'Idhi Až-Žālimūna Mawqūfūna `Inda Rabbihim Yarji`u Ba`đuhum 'Ilá Ba`đin Al-Qawla Yaqūlu Al-Ladhīna Astuđ`ifū Lilladhīna Astakbarū Lawlā 'Antum Lakunnā Mu'uminīna

The faithless say, ‘We will never believe in this Quran, nor in what was [revealed] before it.’ But if you were to see when the wrongdoers will be made to stop before their Lord casting the blame on one another. Those who were abased will say to those who were arrogant, ‘Had it not been for you, we would surely have been faithful.’

32

Ayah 32

Qala allatheena istakbaroo lillatheena istudAAifoo anahnu sadadnakum AAani alhuda baAAda ith jaakum bal kuntum mujrimeena

Qāla Al-Ladhīna Astakbarū Lilladhīna Astuđ`ifū 'Anaĥnu Şadadnākum `Ani Al-Hudá Ba`da 'Idh Jā'akum Bal Kuntum Mujrimīna

Those who were arrogant will say to those who were abased, ‘Did we keep you from guidance after it had come to you? No, you were guilty [yourselves].’

33

Ayah 33

Waqala allatheena istudAAifoo lillatheena istakbaroo bal makru allayli waalnnahari ith tamuroonana an nakfura biAllahi wanajAAala lahu andadan waasarroo alnnadamata lamma raawoo alAAathaba wajaAAalna alaghlala fee aAAnaqi allatheena kafaroo hal yujzawna illa ma kanoo yaAAmaloona

Wa Qāla Al-Ladhīna Astuđ`ifū Lilladhīna Astakbarū Bal Makru Al-Layli Wa An-Nahāri 'Idh Ta'murūnanā 'An Nakfura Billāhi Wa Naj`ala Lahu 'Andādāan Wa 'Asarrū An-Nadāmata Lammā Ra'aw Al-`Adhāba Wa Ja`alnā Al-'Aghlāla Fī 'A`nāqi Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Hal Yujzawna 'Illā Mā Kānū Ya`malūna

Those who were abased will say to those who were arrogant, ‘No, [it was your] night and day plotting, when you prompted us to forswear Allah and to set up equals to Him.’ They will hide their remorse when they sight the punishment, and We will put iron collars around the necks of the faithless. Shall they not be requited for what they used to do

34

Ayah 34

Wama arsalna fee qaryatin min natheerin illa qala mutrafooha inna bima orsiltum bihi kafiroona

Wa Mā 'Arsalnā Fī Qaryatin Min Nadhīrin 'Illā Qāla Mutrafūhā 'Innā Bimā 'Ursiltum Bihi Kāfirūna

We did not send a warner to any town without its affluent ones saying, ‘We indeed disbelieve in what you have been sent with.’

35

Ayah 35

Waqaloo nahnu aktharu amwalan waawladan wama nahnu bimuAAaththabeena

Wa Qālū Naĥnu 'Aktharu 'Amwālāan Wa 'Awlādāan Wa Mā Naĥnu Bimu`adhabīna

They say, ‘We have greater wealth and more children, and we will not be punished!’

36

Ayah 36

Qul inna rabbee yabsutu alrrizqa liman yashao wayaqdiru walakinna akthara alnnasi la yaAAlamoona

Qul 'Inna Rabbī Yabsuţu Ar-Rizqa Liman Yashā'u Wa Yaqdiru Wa Lakinna 'Akthara An-Nāsi Lā Ya`lamūna

Say, ‘Indeed my Lord expands the provision for whomever He wishes and He tightens it, but most people do not know.’

37

Ayah 37

Wama amwalukum wala awladukum biallatee tuqarribukum AAindana zulfa illa man amana waAAamila salihan faolaika lahum jazao alddiAAfi bima AAamiloo wahum fee alghurufati aminoona

Wa Mā 'Amwālukum Wa Lā 'Awlādukum Bi-Atī Tuqarribukum `Indanā Zulfá 'Illā Man 'Āmana Wa `Amila Şāliĥāan Fa'ūlā'ika Lahum Jazā'u Ađ-Đi`fi Bimā `Amilū Wa Hum Fī Al-Ghurufāti 'Āminūna

It is not your wealth, nor your children, that will bring you close to Us in nearness, excepting those who have faith and act righteously. It is they for whom there will be a twofold reward for what they did, and they will be secure in lofty abodes

38

Ayah 38

Waallatheena yasAAawna fee ayatina muAAajizeena olaika fee alAAathabi muhdaroona

Wa Al-Ladhīna Yas`awna Fī 'Āyātinā Mu`ājizīna 'Ūlā'ika Fī Al-`Adhābi Muĥđarūna

As for those who contend with Our signs seeking to frustrate [their purpose], they will be brought to the punishment

39

Ayah 39

Qul inna rabbee yabsutu alrrizqa liman yashao min AAibadihi wayaqdiru lahu wama anfaqtum min shayin fahuwa yukhlifuhu wahuwa khayru alrraziqeena

Qul 'Inna Rabbī Yabsuţu Ar-Rizqa Liman Yashā'u Min `Ibādihi Wa Yaqdiru Lahu Wa Mā 'Anfaqtum Min Shay'in Fahuwa Yukhlifuhu Wa Huwa Khayru Ar-Rāziqīna

Say, ‘Indeed my Lord expands the provision for whomever of His servants that He wishes and tightens it, and He will repay whatever you may spend, and He is the best of providers.’

40

Ayah 40

Wayawma yahshuruhum jameeAAan thumma yaqoolu lilmalaikati ahaolai iyyakum kanoo yaAAbudoona

Wa Yawma Yaĥshuruhum Jamī`āan Thumma Yaqūlu Lilmalā'ikati 'Ahā'uulā' 'Īyākum Kānū Ya`budūna

On the day He will muster them all together, He will say to the angels, ‘Was it you that these used to worship?’

41

Ayah 41

Qaloo subhanaka anta waliyyuna min doonihim bal kanoo yaAAbudoona aljinna aktharuhum bihim muminoona

Qālū Subĥānaka 'Anta Walīyunā Min Dūnihim Bal Kānū Ya`budūna Al-Jinna 'Aktharuhum Bihim Mu'uminūna

They will say, ‘Immaculate are You! You are our wali, not they! No, they used to worship the jinn; most of them had faith in them.’

42

Ayah 42

Faalyawma la yamliku baAAdukum libaAAdin nafAAan wala darran wanaqoolu lillatheena thalamoo thooqoo AAathaba alnnari allatee kuntum biha tukaththiboona

Fālyawma Lā Yamliku Ba`đukum Liba`đin Naf`āan Wa Lā Đarrāan Wa Naqūlu Lilladhīna Žalamū Dhūqū `Adhāba An-Nāri Allatī Kuntum Bihā Tukadhibūn

‘Today you have no power to benefit or harm one another,’ and We shall say to those who did wrong, ‘Taste the punishment of the Fire which you used to deny.’

Ayah 43

Waitha tutla AAalayhim ayatuna bayyinatin qaloo ma hatha illa rajulun yureedu an yasuddakum AAamma kana yaAAbudu abaokum waqaloo ma hatha illa ifkun muftaran waqala allatheena kafaroo lilhaqqi lamma jaahum in hatha illa sihrun mubeenun

Wa 'Idhā Tutlá `Alayhim 'Āyātunā Bayyinātin Qālū Mā Hādhā 'Illā Rajulun Yurīdu 'An Yaşuddakum `Ammā Kāna Ya`budu 'Ābā'uukum Wa Qālū Mā Hādhā 'Illā 'Ifkun Muftaráan Wa Qāla Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Lilĥaqqi Lammā Jā'ahum 'In Hādhā 'Illā Siĥrun Mubīnun

When Our manifest signs are recited to them, they say, ‘This is just a man who desires to keep you from what your fathers used to worship.’ And they say, ‘This is nothing but a fabricated lie.’ The faithless say of the truth when it comes to them: ‘This is nothing but plain magic,’

Ayah 44

Wama ataynahum min kutubin yadrusoonaha wama arsalna ilayhim qablaka min natheerin

Wa Mā 'Ātaynāhum Min Kutubin Yadrusūnahā Wa Mā 'Arsalnā 'Ilayhim Qablaka Min Nadhīrin

though We did not give them any scriptures that they might have studied, nor did We send them any warner before you

Ayah 45

Wakaththaba allatheena min qablihim wama balaghoo miAAshara ma ataynahum fakaththaboo rusulee fakayfa kana nakeeri

Wa Kadhaba Al-Ladhīna Min Qablihim Wa Mā Balaghū Mi`shāra Mā 'Ātaynāhum Fakadhabū Rusulī Fakayfa Kāna Nakīri

Those who were before them had also denied—and these have not attained one-tenth of what We had given them—they impugned My apostles, so how was My rebuttal

Ayah 46

Qul innama aAAithukum biwahidatin an taqoomoo lillahi mathna wafurada thumma tatafakkaroo ma bisahibikum min jinnatin in huwa illa natheerun lakum bayna yaday AAathabin shadeedin

Qul 'Innamā 'A`ižukum Biwāĥidatin 'An Taqūmū Lillāhi Mathná Wa Furādá Thumma Tatafakkarū Mā Bişāĥibikum Min Jinnatin 'In Huwa 'Illā Nadhīrun Lakum Bayna Yaday `Adhābin Shadīdin

Say, ‘I give you just a single advice: that you rise up for Allah’s sake, in pairs or singly, and then reflect: there is no madness in your companion; he is just a warner to you before [the befalling of] a severe punishment.’

Ayah 47

Qul ma saaltukum min ajrin fahuwa lakum in ajriya illa AAala Allahi wahuwa AAala kulli shayin shaheedun

Qul Mā Sa'altukum Min 'Ajrin Fahuwa Lakum 'In 'Ajriya 'Illā `Alá Allāhi Wa Huwa `Alá Kulli Shay'in Shahīdun

Say, ‘Whatever reward I may have asked you is for your own good. My [true] reward lies only with Allah, and He is witness to all things.’

Ayah 48

Qul inna rabbee yaqthifu bialhaqqi AAallamu alghuyoobi

Qul 'Inna Rabbī Yaqdhifu Bil-Ĥaqqi `Allāmu Al-Ghuyūbi

Say, ‘Indeed my Lord hurls the truth. [He is] the knower of all that is Unseen.’

Ayah 49

Qul jaa alhaqqu wama yubdio albatilu wama yuAAeedu

Qul Jā'a Al-Ĥaqqu Wa Mā Yubdi'u Al-Bāţilu Wa Mā Yu`īdu

Say, ‘The truth has come, and falsehood neither originates nor restores [anything].’

Ayah 50

Qul in dalaltu fainnama adillu AAala nafsee waini ihtadaytu fabima yoohee ilayya rabbee innahu sameeAAun qareebun

Qul 'In Đalaltu Fa'innamā 'Ađillu `Alá Nafsī Wa 'Ini Ahtadaytu Fabimā Yūĥī 'Ilayya Rabbī 'Innahu Samī`un Qarībun

Say, ‘If I go astray, my going astray is only to my own harm, and if I am rightly guided that is because of what my Lord has revealed to me. Indeed He is all-hearing and nearmost.’

Ayah 51

Walaw tara ith faziAAoo fala fawta waokhithoo min makanin qareebin

Wa Law Tará 'Idh Fazi`ū Falā Fawta Wa 'Ukhidhū Min Makānin Qarībin

Were you to see them when they will be stricken with terror, without any escape, and are seized from a close quarter

Ayah 52

Waqaloo amanna bihi waanna lahumu alttanawushu min makanin baAAeedin

Wa Qālū 'Āmannā Bihi Wa 'Anná Lahumu At-Tanāwushu Min Makānin Ba`īdin

They will say, ‘We believe in it [now]!’ But how can they attain it from a far-off place

Ayah 53

Waqad kafaroo bihi min qablu wayaqthifoona bialghaybi min makanin baAAeedin

Wa Qad Kafarū Bihi Min Qablu Wa Yaqdhifūna Bil-Ghaybi Min Makānin Ba`īdin

when they denied it in the past—shooting at something invisible from a far-off place—

Ayah 54

Waheela baynahum wabayna ma yashtahoona kama fuAAila biashyaAAihim min qablu innahum kanoo fee shakkin mureebin

Wa Ĥīla Baynahum Wa Bayna Mā Yashtahūna Kamā Fu`ila Bi'ashyā`ihim Min Qablu 'Innahum Kānū Fī Shakkin Murībin

and a barrier is set between them and what they desire, as was done aforetime with their likes, who had remained in grave doubt
