Qaaf

The letter Qaaf

سُورَةُ قٓ

Meccan 45 Verses

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1

Ayah 1

Qaf waalqurani almajeedi

Qāf Wa Al-Qur'āni Al-Majīdi

By Qaf and the glorious Quran, (you are the Messenger of God)

Ayah 2

Bal AAajiboo an jaahum munthirun minhum faqala alkafiroona hatha shayon AAajeebun

Bal `Ajibū 'An Jā'ahum Mundhirun Minhum Faqāla Al-Kāfirūna Hādhā Shay'un `Ajībun

In fact, it seems odd (to the pagans) that a warner from their own people has come to them. The disbelievers have said, "It is very strange

Ayah 3

Aitha mitna wakunna turaban thalika rajAAun baAAeedun

A'idhā Mitnā Wa Kunnā Turābāan Dhālika Raj`un Ba`īdun

that after we die and become dust, we shall be brought back to life again. This seems far from reality

Ayah 4

Qad AAalimna ma tanqusu alardu minhum waAAindana kitabun hafeethun

Qad `Alimnā Mā Tanquşu Al-'Arđu Minhum Wa `Indanā Kitābun Ĥafīžun

We already know how much of them (of their bodies) the earth will consume. With Us there is a Book that contains all records

Ayah 5

Bal kaththaboo bialhaqqi lamma jaahum fahum fee amrin mareejin

Bal Kadhabū Bil-Ĥaqqi Lammā Jā'ahum Fahum Fī 'Amrin Marījin

In fact, they have rejected the truth that has come to them, thus, they live in confusion

Ayah 6

Afalam yanthuroo ila alssamai fawqahum kayfa banaynaha wazayyannaha wama laha min furoojin

Afalam Yanžurū 'Ilá As-Samā'i Fawqahum Kayfa Banaynāhā Wa Zayyannāhā Wa Mā Lahā Min Furūjin

Have they not seen how We have established the sky above them and decked it without gaps and cracks

Ayah 7

Waalarda madadnaha waalqayna feeha rawasiya waanbatna feeha min kulli zawjin baheejin

Wa Al-'Arđa Madadnāhā Wa 'Alqaynā Fīhā Rawāsiya Wa 'Anbatnā Fīhā Min Kulli Zawjin Bahījin

(Have they not seen) how We have spread out the earth, placed on it firm mountains and have made all kinds of flourishing pairs of plants grow

Ayah 8

Tabsiratan wathikra likulli AAabdin muneebin

Tabşiratan Wa Dhikrá Likulli `Abdin Munībin

This is a reminder and it sharpens the insight of every servant of God who turns to Him in repentance

Ayah 9

Wanazzalna mina alssamai maan mubarakan faanbatna bihi jannatin wahabba alhaseedi

Wa Nazzalnā Mina As-Samā'i Mā'an Mubārakāan Fa'anbatnā Bihi Jannātin Wa Ĥabba Al-Ĥaşīdi

We have sent blessed water down from the sky to grow gardens, harvestable crops

Ayah 10

Waalnnakhla basiqatin laha talAAun nadeedun

Wa An-Nakhla Bāsiqātin Lahā Ţal`un Nađīdun

and tall palm-trees with clusters of dates

11

Ayah 11

Rizqan lilAAibadi waahyayna bihi baldatan maytan kathalika alkhurooju

Rizqāan Lil`ibādi Wa 'Aĥyaynā Bihi Baldatan Maytāan Kadhālika Al-Khurūju

as sustenance for My servants. With this We have brought the dead land back to life. Thus, will also be your resurrection

Ayah 12

Kaththabat qablahum qawmu noohin waashabu alrrassi wathamoodu

Kadhabat Qablahum Qawmu Nūĥin Wa 'Aşĥābu Ar-Rassi Wa Thamūdu

The people of Noah, dwellers of the Ra's, Thamud

Ayah 13

WaAAadun wafirAAawnu waikhwanu lootin

Wa `Ādun Wa Fir`awnu Wa 'Ikhwānu Lūţin

Ad, the Pharaoh, Lot

14

Ayah 14

Waashabu alaykati waqawmu tubbaAAin kullun kaththaba alrrusula fahaqqa waAAeedi

Wa 'Aşĥābu Al-'Aykati Wa Qawmu Tubba`in Kullun Kadhaba Ar-Rusula Faĥaqqa Wa`īdi

dwellers of the forest, and the people of Tubba had all rejected the Prophets. Thus, they became subject to Our torment

Ayah 15

AfaAAayeena bialkhalqi alawwali bal hum fee labsin min khalqin jadeedin

Afa`ayīnā Bil-Khalqi Al-'Awwali Bal Hum Fī Labsin Min Khalqin Jadīdin

Did We fail to accomplish the first creation? Of course, We did not; We have all power over all things. Yet they are confused about a new creation

Ayah 16

Walaqad khalaqna alinsana wanaAAlamu ma tuwaswisu bihi nafsuhu wanahnu aqrabu ilayhi min habli alwareedi

Wa Laqad Khalaqnā Al-'Insāna Wa Na`lamu Mā Tuwaswisu Bihi Nafsuhu Wa Naĥnu 'Aqrabu 'Ilayhi Min Ĥabli Al-Warīdi

We swear that We have created the human being and We know what his soul whispers to him. We are closer to him than even his jugular vein

Ayah 17

Ith yatalaqqa almutalaqqiyani AAani alyameeni waAAani alshshimali qaAAeedun

Idh Yatalaqqá Al-Mutalaqqiyāni `Ani Al-Yamīni Wa `Ani Ash-Shimāli Qa`īdun

Since the two scribes are sitting on each of his shoulders, he does not utter a word which is not recorded immediately by the watchful scribes

Ayah 18

Ma yalfithu min qawlin illa ladayhi raqeebun AAateedun

Mā Yalfižu Min Qawlin 'Illā Ladayhi Raqībun `Atīdun

The human being will certainly experience the agony of death

19

Ayah 19

Wajaat sakratu almawti bialhaqqi thalika ma kunta minhu taheedu

Wa Jā'at Sakratu Al-Mawti Bil-Ĥaqqi Dhālika Mā Kunta Minhu Taĥīdu

and (the human being will be told), "This is what you had been trying to run away from

20

Ayah 20

Wanufikha fee alssoori thalika yawmu alwaAAeedi

Wa Nufikha Fī Aş-Şūri Dhālika Yawmu Al-Wa`īdi

The trumpet will certainly be sounded. This will be the day (about which you) were threatened

21

Ayah 21

Wajaat kullu nafsin maAAaha saiqun washaheedun

Wa Jā'at Kullu Nafsin Ma`ahā Sā'iqun Wa Shahīdun

Every soul will be accompanied (by an angel) behind him and another as a witness

22

Ayah 22

Laqad kunta fee ghaflatin min hatha fakashafna AAanka ghitaaka fabasaruka alyawma hadeedun

Laqad Kunta Fī Ghaflatin Min Hādhā Fakashafnā `Anka Ghiţā'aka Fabaşaruka Al-Yawma Ĥadīdun

(He will be told), "You were completely heedless of this day. We have removed the veil from your eyes and your vision will now be sharp and strong

Ayah 23

Waqala qareenuhu hatha ma ladayya AAateedun

Wa Qāla Qarīnuhu Hādhā Mā Ladayya `Atīdun

His (angelic) companion will say, "(Lord), the record of his deeds is with me and is all ready

24

Ayah 24

Alqiya fee jahannama kulla kaffarin AAaneedin

Alqiyā Fī Jahannama Kulla Kaffārin `Anīdin

(They will be told,) "Throw into hell every persistent disbelievers

25

Ayah 25

MannaAAin lilkhayri muAAtadin mureebin

Mannā`in Lilkhayri Mu`tadin Murībin

who is an opponent of good, a suspicious transgressor

26

Ayah 26

Allathee jaAAala maAAa Allahi ilahan akhara faalqiyahu fee alAAathabi alshshadeedi

Al-Ladhī Ja`ala Ma`a Allāhi 'Ilahāan 'Ākhara Fa'alqiyāhu Fī Al-`Adhābi Ash-Shadīdi

and an idol worshipper. Throw him into severe torment

27

Ayah 27

Qala qareenuhu rabbana ma atghaytuhu walakin kana fee dalalin baAAeedin

Qāla Qarīnuhu Rabbanā Mā 'Aţghaytuhu Wa Lakin Kāna Fī Đalālin Ba`īdin

His satanic companion will say, "Our Lord, I did not mislead him, but he himself went astray

28

Ayah 28

Qala la takhtasimoo ladayya waqad qaddamtu ilaykum bialwaAAeedi

Qāla Lā Takhtaşimū Ladayya Wa Qad Qaddamtu 'Ilaykum Bil-Wa`īdi

The Lord will say, "Do not argue in My presence; I had certainly sent you a warning

Ayah 29

Ma yubaddalu alqawlu ladayya wama ana bithallamin lilAAabeedi

Mā Yubaddalu Al-Qawlu Ladayya Wa Mā 'Anā Bižallāmin Lil`abīdi

No word is to be exchanged in My presence. I am not unjust to My servants

30

Ayah 30

Yawma naqoolu lijahannama hali imtalati wataqoolu hal min mazeedin

Yawma Naqūlu Lijahannama Hal Amtala'ti Wa Taqūlu Hal Min Mazīdin

On that day We shall ask hell, "Are you full?" It will say, "Are there any more

31

Ayah 31

Waozlifati aljannatu lilmuttaqeena ghayra baAAeedin

Wa 'Uzlifati Al-Jannatu Lilmuttaqīna Ghayra Ba`īdin

Paradise will be brought near for the pious ones

32

Ayah 32

Hatha ma tooAAadoona likulli awwabin hafeethin

Hādhā Mā Tū`adūna Likulli 'Awwābin Ĥafīžin

(and they will be told), "This is what you were promised. It is for everyone who turned in repentance to God, kept his promise

33

Ayah 33

Man khashiya alrrahmana bialghaybi wajaa biqalbin muneebin

Man Khashiya Ar-Raĥmana Bil-Ghaybi Wa Jā'a Biqalbin Munībin

feared the Beneficent God in secret, and turned to Him with a repenting heart

Ayah 34

Odkhulooha bisalamin thalika yawmu alkhuloodi

Adkhulūhā Bisalāmin Dhālika Yawmu Al-Khulūdi

(They will be told), "Enter Paradise in peace and, therein, you will live forever

35

Ayah 35

Lahum ma yashaoona feeha waladayna mazeedun

Lahum Mā Yashā'ūna Fīhā Wa Ladaynā Mazīdun

They will have therein whatever they want and will receive from Us more rewards

36

Ayah 36

Wakam ahlakna qablahum min qarnin hum ashaddu minhum batshan fanaqqaboo fee albiladi hal min maheesin

Wa Kam 'Ahlaknā Qablahum Min Qarnin Hum 'Ashaddu Minhum Baţshāan Fanaqqabū Fī Al-Bilādi Hal Min Maĥīşin

How many an ancient town who were much stronger than them (unbelievers) did We destroy. (In vain), they wandered through the land in search of a place of refuge from Our torment

37

Ayah 37

Inna fee thalika lathikra liman kana lahu qalbun aw alqa alssamAAa wahuwa shaheedun

Inna Fī Dhālika Ladhikrá Liman Kāna Lahu Qalbun 'Aw 'Alqá As-Sam`a Wa Huwa Shahīdun

This is a reminder for everyone who understands, listens, and sees

38

Ayah 38

Walaqad khalaqna alssamawati waalarda wama baynahuma fee sittati ayyamin wama massana min lughoobin

Wa Laqad Khalaqnā As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđa Wa Mā Baynahumā Fī Sittati 'Ayyāmin Wa Mā Massanā Min Lughūbin

We created the heavens, the earth, and all that is between them in six days without experiencing any fatigue

39

Ayah 39

Faisbir AAala ma yaqooloona wasabbih bihamdi rabbika qabla tulooAAi alshshamsi waqabla alghuroobi

Fāşbir `Alá Mā Yaqūlūna Wa Sabbiĥ Biĥamdi Rabbika Qabla Ţulū`i Ash-Shamsi Wa Qabla Al-Ghurūbi

(Muhammad), exercise patience against what they say. Glorify your Lord with His praise before sunrise and sunset

40

Ayah 40

Wamina allayli fasabbihhu waadbara alssujoodi

Wa Mina Al-Layli Fasabbiĥhu Wa 'Adbāra As-Sujūdi

Glorify Him during the night and also glorify Him after prostration

41

Ayah 41

WaistamiAA yawma yunadi almunadi min makanin qareebin

Wa Astami` Yawma Yunādi Al-Munādi Min Makānin Qarībin

Wait for the day when the trumpet will be sounded from a nearby place

42

Ayah 42

Yawma yasmaAAoona alssayhata bialhaqqi thalika yawmu alkhurooji

Yawma Yasma`ūna Aş-Şayĥata Bil-Ĥaqqi Dhālika Yawmu Al-Khurūji

On that day they will certainly hear the sound of the trumpet and that will be the Day of Resurrection

43

Ayah 43

Inna nahnu nuhyee wanumeetu wailayna almaseeru

Innā Naĥnu Nuĥyī Wa Numītu Wa 'Ilaynā Al-Maşīru

We give life and cause things to die. To Us all things will return

44

Ayah 44

Yawma tashaqqaqu alardu AAanhum siraAAan thalika hashrun AAalayna yaseerun

Yawma Tashaqqaqu Al-'Arđu `Anhum Sirā`āan Dhālika Ĥashrun `Alaynā Yasīrun

On the day when the earth is rent asunder, they will quickly come out of their graves. This is how easy it is for Us to bring about the Day of Resurrection

45

Ayah 45

Nahnu aAAlamu bima yaqooloona wama anta AAalayhim bijabbarin fathakkir bialqurani man yakhafu waAAeedi

Naĥnu 'A`lamu Bimā Yaqūlūna Wa Mā 'Anta `Alayhim Bijabbārin Fadhakkir Bil-Qur'āni Man Yakhāfu Wa`īdi

We know best what they say and you cannot compel them. Remind, by way of the Quran, those who have fear of My warnings
