Ayah 1

Qad samiAAa Allahu qawla allatee tujadiluka fee zawjiha watashtakee ila Allahi waAllahu yasmaAAu tahawurakuma inna Allaha sameeAAun baseerun

Qad Sami`a Allāhu Qawla Allatī Tujādiluka Fī Zawjihā Wa Tashtakī 'Ilá Allāhi Wa Allāhu Yasma`u Taĥāwurakumā 'Inna Allāha Samī`un Başīrun

Allah has certainly heard the speech of her who pleads with you about her husband and complains to Allah. Allah hears the conversation between the two of you. Indeed Allah is all-hearing, all-seeing

2

Ayah 2

Allatheena yuthahiroona minkum min nisaihim ma hunna ommahatihim in ommahatuhum illa allaee waladnahum wainnahum layaqooloona munkaran mina alqawli wazooran wainna Allaha laAAafuwwun ghafoorun

Al-Ladhīna Yužāhirūna Minkum Min Nisā'ihim Mā Hunna 'Ummahātihim 'In 'Ummahātuhum 'Illā Al-Lā'ī Waladnahum Wa 'Innahum Layaqūlūna Munkarāan Mina Al-Qawli Wa Zūrāan Wa 'Inna Allāha La`afūwun Ghafūrun

As for those of you who repudiate their wives by zihar, they are not their mothers; their mothers are only those who bore them, and indeed they utter an outrage and a lie. Indeed Allah is all-excusing, all-forgiving

3

Ayah 3

Waallatheena yuthahiroona min nisaihim thumma yaAAoodoona lima qaloo fatahreeru raqabatin min qabli an yatamassa thalikum tooAAathoona bihi waAllahu bima taAAmaloona khabeerun

Wa Al-Ladhīna Yužāhirūna Min Nisā'ihim Thumma Ya`ūdūna Limā Qālū Fataĥrīru Raqabatin Min Qabli 'An Yatamāssā Dhālikum Tū`ažūna Bihi Wa Allāhu Bimā Ta`malūna Khabīrun

Those who repudiate their wives by ³ih¡r and then retract what they have said, shall set free a slave before they may touch each other. This you are advised [to carry out], and Allah is well aware of what you do

4

Ayah 4

Faman lam yajid fasiyamu shahrayni mutatabiAAayni min qabli an yatamassa faman lam yastatiAA faitAAamu sitteena miskeenan thalika lituminoo biAllahi warasoolihi watilka hudoodu Allahi walilkafireena AAathabun aleemun

Faman Lam Yajid Faşiyāmu Shahrayni Mutatābi`ayni Min Qabli 'An Yatamāssā Faman Lam Yastaţi` Fa'iţ`āmu Sittīna Miskīnāan Dhālika Litu'uminū Billāhi Wa Rasūlihi Wa Tilka Ĥudūdu Allāhi Wa Lilkāfirīna `Adhābun 'Alīmun

He who cannot afford [to free a slave] shall fast for two successive months before they may touch each other. If he cannot [do so], he shall feed sixty needy persons. This, that you may have faith in Allah and His Apostle. These are Allah’s bounds, and there is a painful punishment for the faithless

5

Ayah 5

Inna allatheena yuhaddoona Allaha warasoolahu kubitoo kama kubita allatheena min qablihim waqad anzalna ayatin bayyinatin walilkafireena AAathabun muheenun

Inna Al-Ladhīna Yuĥāddūna Allāha Wa Rasūlahu Kubitū Kamā Kubita Al-Ladhīna Min Qablihim Wa Qad 'Anzalnā 'Āyātin Bayyinātin Wa Lilkāfirīna `Adhābun Muhīnun

Indeed those who oppose Allah and His Apostle will be subdued just as those who passed before them were subdued. We have certainly sent down manifest signs, and there is a humiliating punishment for the faithless

6

Ayah 6

Yawma yabAAathuhumu Allahu jameeAAan fayunabbiohum bima AAamiloo ahsahu Allahu wanasoohu waAllahu AAala kulli shayin shaheedun

Yawma Yab`athuhumu Allāhu Jamī`āan Fayunabbi'uhum Bimā `Amilū 'Aĥşāhu Allāhu Wa Nasūhu Wa Allāhu `Alá Kulli Shay'in Shahīdun

The day when Allah will raise them all together, He will inform them about what they have done. Allah has kept account of it, while they have forgotten, and Allah is witness to all things

7

Ayah 7

Alam tara anna Allaha yaAAlamu ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi ma yakoonu min najwa thalathatin illa huwa rabiAAuhum wala khamsatin illa huwa sadisuhum wala adna min thalika wala akthara illa huwa maAAahum ayna ma kanoo thumma yunabbiohum bima AAamiloo yawma alqiyamati inna Allaha bikulli shayin AAaleemun

Alam Tará 'Anna Allāha Ya`lamu Mā Fī As-Samāwāti Wa Mā Fī Al-'Arđi Mā Yakūnu Min Najwá Thalāthatin 'Illā Huwa Rābi`uhum Wa Lā Khamsatin 'Illā Huwa Sādisuhum Wa Lā 'Adná Min Dhālika Wa Lā 'Akthara 'Illā Huwa Ma`ahum 'Ayna Mā Kānū Thumma Yunabbi'uhum Bimā `Amilū Yawma Al-Qiyāmati 'Inna Allāha Bikulli Shay'in `Alīmun

Have you not regarded that Allah knows whatever there is in the heavens and whatever there is in the earth? There dost not takes place any secret talk among three, but He is their fourth [companion], nor among five but He is their sixth, nor when they are less than that or more but He is with them wherever they may be. Then He will inform them about what they have done on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed Allah has knowledge of all things

8

Ayah 8

Alam tara ila allatheena nuhoo AAani alnnajwa thumma yaAAoodoona lima nuhoo AAanhu wayatanajawna bialithmi waalAAudwani wamaAAsiyati alrrasooli waitha jaooka hayyawka bima lam yuhayyika bihi Allahu wayaqooloona fee anfusihim lawla yuAAaththibuna Allahu bima naqoolu hasbuhum jahannamu yaslawnaha fabisa almaseeru

Alam Tará 'Ilá Al-Ladhīna Nuhū `Ani An-Najwá Thumma Ya`ūdūna Limā Nuhū `Anhu Wa Yatanājawna Bil-'Ithmi Wa Al-`Udwāni Wa Ma`şiyati Ar-Rasūli Wa 'Idhā Jā'ūka Ĥayyawka Bimā Lam Yuĥayyika Bihi Allāhu Wa Yaqūlūna Fī 'Anfusihim Lawlā Yu`adhibunā Allāhu Bimā Naqūlu Ĥasbuhum Jahannamu Yaşlawnahā Fabi'sa Al-Maşīru

Have you not regarded those who were forbidden from secret talks but again resumed what they had been forbidden from, and hold secret talks [imbued] with sin and transgression and disobedience to the Apostle? And when they come to you they greet you with words with which Allah never greeted you, and they say to themselves, ‘Why does not Allah punish us for what we say?!’ Let hell suffice them: they shall enter it, and it is an evil destination

9

Ayah 9

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo itha tanajaytum fala tatanajaw bialithmi waalAAudwani wamaAAsiyati alrrasooli watanajaw bialbirri waalttaqwa waittaqoo Allaha allathee ilayhi tuhsharoona

Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū 'Idhā Tanājaytum Falā Tatanājaw Bil-'Ithmi Wa Al-`Udwāni Wa Ma`şiyati Ar-Rasūli Wa Tanājaw Bil-Birri Wa At-Taqwá Wa Attaqū Allāha Al-Ladhī 'Ilayhi Tuĥsharūna

O you who have faith! When you converse secretly, do not hold private conversations [imbued] with sin and aggression and disobedience to the Apostle, but converse in [a spirit of] piety and Godfearing, and be wary of Allah toward whom you will be gathered

10

Ayah 10

Innama alnnajwa mina alshshaytani liyahzuna allatheena amanoo walaysa bidarrihim shayan illa biithni Allahi waAAala Allahi falyatawakkali almuminoona

Innamā An-Najwá Mina Ash-Shayţāni Liyaĥzuna Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa Laysa Biđārrihim Shay'āan 'Illā Bi'idhni Allāhi Wa `Alá Allāhi Falyatawakkali Al-Mu'uminūna

Indeed [malicious] secret talks are from Satan, that he may upset the faithful, but he cannot harm them in any way except by Allah’s leave, and in Allah let all the faithful put their trust

11

Ayah 11

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo itha qeela lakum tafassahoo fee almajalisi faifsahoo yafsahi Allahu lakum waitha qeela onshuzoo faonshuzoo yarfaAAi Allahu allatheena amanoo minkum waallatheena ootoo alAAilma darajatin waAllahu bima taAAmaloona khabeerun

Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū 'Idhā Qīla Lakum Tafassaĥū Fī Al-Majālisi Fāfsaĥū Yafsaĥi Allāhu Lakum Wa 'Idhā Qīla Anshuzū Fānshuzū Yarfa`i Allāhu Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Minkum Wa Al-Ladhīna 'Ūtū Al-`Ilma Darajātin Wa Allāhu Bimā Ta`malūna Khabīrun

O you who have faith! When you are told, ‘Make room,’ in sittings, then do make room; Allah will make room for you. And when you are told, ‘Rise up!’ Do rise up. Allah will raise in rank those of you who have faith and those who have been given knowledge, and Allah is well aware of what you do

12

Ayah 12

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo itha najaytumu alrrasoola faqaddimoo bayna yaday najwakum sadaqatan thalika khayrun lakum waatharu fain lam tajidoo fainna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun

Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū 'Idhā Nājaytumu Ar-Rasūla Faqaddimū Bayna Yaday Najwākum Şadaqatan Dhālika Khayrun Lakum Wa 'Aţharu Fa'in Lam Tajidū Fa'inna Allāha Ghafūrun Raĥīmun

O you who have faith! When you converse privately with the Apostle, offer a charity before your private talk. That is better for you and purer. But if you cannot afford [to make the offering], then Allah is indeed all-forgiving, all-merciful

13

Ayah 13

Aashfaqtum an tuqaddimoo bayna yaday najwakum sadaqatin faith lam tafAAaloo wataba Allahu AAalaykum faaqeemoo alssalata waatoo alzzakata waateeAAoo Allaha warasoolahu waAllahu khabeerun bima taAAmaloona

A'ashfaqtum 'An Tuqaddimū Bayna Yaday Najwākum Şadaqātin Fa'idh Lam Taf`alū Wa Tāba Allāhu `Alaykum Fa'aqīmū Aş-Şalāata Wa 'Ātū Az-Zakāata Wa 'Aţī`ū Allāha Wa Rasūlahu Wa Allāhu Khabīrun Bimā Ta`malūna

Were you dismayed by having to offer charities before your private talks? Since you did not do it, and Allah has excused you [for not be able to comply], now maintain the prayer and pay the zakat, and obey Allah and His Apostle. Allah is well aware of what you do

14

Ayah 14

Alam tara ila allatheena tawallaw qawman ghadiba Allahu AAalayhim ma hum minkum wala minhum wayahlifoona AAala alkathibi wahum yaAAlamoona

Alam Tará 'Ilá Al-Ladhīna Tawallaw Qawmāan Ghađiba Allāhu `Alayhim Mā Hum Minkum Wa Lā Minhum Wa Yaĥlifūna `Alá Al-Kadhibi Wa Hum Ya`lamūna

Have you not regarded those who befriend a people at whom Allah is wrathful? They neither belong to you, nor to them, and they swear false oaths [that they are with you] and they know

15

Ayah 15

aAAadda Allahu lahum AAathaban shadeedan innahum saa ma kanoo yaAAmaloona

A`adda Allāhu Lahum `Adhābāan Shadīdāan 'Innahum Sā'a Mā Kānū Ya`malūna

Allah has prepared a severe punishment for them. Evil indeed is what they used to do

16

Ayah 16

Ittakhathoo aymanahum junnatan fasaddoo AAan sabeeli Allahi falahum AAathabun muheenun

Attakhadhū 'Aymānahum Junnatan Faşaddū `An Sabīli Allāhi Falahum `Adhābun Muhīnun

They make a shield of their oaths and bar [people] from the way of Allah; so there is a humiliating punishment for them

17

Ayah 17

Lan tughniya AAanhum amwaluhum wala awladuhum mina Allahi shayan olaika ashabu alnnari hum feeha khalidoona

Lan Tughniya `Anhum 'Amwāluhum Wa Lā 'Awlāduhum Mina Allāhi Shay'āan 'Ūlā'ika 'Aşĥābu An-Nāri Hum Fīhā Khālidūna

Their possessions and children will not avail them in any way against Allah. They shall be the inmates of the Fire and they shall remain in it [forever]

18

Ayah 18

Yawma yabAAathuhumu Allahu jameeAAan fayahlifoona lahu kama yahlifoona lakum wayahsaboona annahum AAala shayin ala innahum humu alkathiboona

Yawma Yab`athuhumu Allāhu Jamī`āan Fayaĥlifūna Lahu Kamā Yaĥlifūna Lakum Wa Yaĥsabūna 'Annahum `Alá Shay'in 'Alā 'Innahum Humu Al-Kādhibūna

The day when Allah will raise them all together, they will swear to Him, just like they swear to you [now], supposing that they stand on something. Look! They are indeed liars

19

Ayah 19

Istahwatha AAalayhimu alshshaytanu faansahum thikra Allahi olaika hizbu alshshaytani ala inna hizba alshshaytani humu alkhasiroona

Astaĥwadha `Alayhimu Ash-Shayţānu Fa'ansāhum Dhikra Allāhi 'Ūlā'ika Ĥizbu Ash-Shayţāni 'Alā 'Inna Ĥizba Ash-Shayţāni Humu Al-Khāsirūna

Satan has prevailed upon them, so he has caused them to forget the remembrance of Allah. They are Satan’s confederates. Look! Indeed, it is Satan’s confederates who are the losers

20

Ayah 20

Inna allatheena yuhaddoona Allaha warasoolahu olaika fee alathalleena

Inna Al-Ladhīna Yuĥāddūna Allāha Wa Rasūlahu 'Ūlā'ika Fī Al-'Adhallīna

Indeed those who oppose Allah and His Apostle—they will be among the most abased

21

Ayah 21

Kataba Allahu laaghlibanna ana warusulee inna Allaha qawiyyun AAazeezun

Kataba Allāhu La'aghlibanna 'Anā Wa Rusulī 'Inna Allāha Qawīyun `Azīzun

Allah has ordained: ‘I shall surely prevail, I and My apostles.’ Indeed Allah is all-strong, all-mighty

22

Ayah 22

La tajidu qawman yuminoona biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri yuwaddoona man hadda Allaha warasoolahu walaw kanoo abaahum aw abnaahum aw ikhwanahum aw AAasheeratahum olaika kataba fee quloobihimu aleemana waayyadahum biroohin minhu wayudkhiluhum jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu khalideena feeha radiya Allahu AAanhum waradoo AAanhu olaika hizbu Allahi ala inna hizba Allahi humu almuflihoona

Lā Tajidu Qawmāan Yu'uminūna Billāhi Wa Al-Yawmi Al-'Ākhiri Yuwāddūna Man Ĥādda Allāha Wa Rasūlahu Wa Law Kānū 'Ābā'ahum 'Aw 'Abnā'ahum 'Aw 'Ikhwānahum 'Aw `Ashīratahum 'Ūlā'ika Kataba Fī Qulūbihimu Al-'Īmāna Wa 'Ayyadahum Birūĥin Minhu Wa Yudkhiluhum Jannātin Tajrī Min Taĥtihā Al-'Anhāru Khālidīna Fīhā Rađiya Allāhu `Anhum Wa Rađū `Anhu 'Ūlā'ika Ĥizbu Allāhi 'Alā 'Inna Ĥizba Allāhi Humu Al-Mufliĥūna

You will not find a people believing in Allah and the Last Day endearing those who oppose Allah and His Apostle even though they were their own parents, or children, or brothers, or kinsfolk. [For] such, He has written faith into their hearts and strengthened them with a spirit from Him. He will admit them into gardens with streams running in them, to remain in them [forever], Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. They are Allah’s confederates. Look! The confederates of Allah are indeed felicitous
