Surah 67

Al-Mulk

The Sovereignty

سُورَةُ المُلۡكِ

Meccan 30 Verses

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1

Ayah 1

Tabaraka allathee biyadihi almulku wahuwa AAala kulli shayin qadeerun

Tabāraka Al-Ladhī Biyadihi Al-Mulku Wa Huwa `Alá Kulli Shay'in Qadīrun

Blessed is He in whose hands is the Kingdom and who has power over all things

Ayah 2

Allathee khalaqa almawta waalhayata liyabluwakum ayyukum ahsanu AAamalan wahuwa alAAazeezu alghafooru

Al-Ladhī Khalaqa Al-Mawta Wa Al-Ĥayāata Liyabluwakum 'Ayyukum 'Aĥsanu `Amalāan Wa Huwa Al-`Azīzu Al-Ghafūru

It is He who has created death and life to put you to the test and see which of you is most virtuous in your deeds. He is Majestic and All-forgiving

Ayah 3

Allathee khalaqa sabAAa samawatin tibaqan ma tara fee khalqi alrrahmani min tafawutin fairjiAAi albasara hal tara min futoorin

Al-Ladhī Khalaqa Sab`a Samāwātin Ţibāqāan Mā Tará Fī Khalqi Ar-Raĥmāni Min Tafāwutin Fārji`i Al-Başara Hal Tará Min Fuţūrin

It is He who has created seven heavens, one above the other. You can see no flaw in the creation of the Beneficent God. Look again. Can you see faults

Ayah 4

Thumma irjiAAi albasara karratayni yanqalib ilayka albasaru khasian wahuwa haseerun

Thumma Arji`i Al-Başara Karratayni Yanqalib 'Ilayka Al-Başaru Khāsi'āan Wa Huwa Ĥasīrun

Look twice (and keep on looking), your eyes will only become dull and tired

Ayah 5

Walaqad zayyanna alssamaa alddunya bimasabeeha wajaAAalnaha rujooman lilshshayateeni waaAAtadna lahum AAathaba alssaAAeeri

Wa Laqad Zayyannā As-Samā'a Ad-Dunyā Bimaşābīĥa Wa Ja`alnāhā Rujūmāan Lilshayāţīni Wa 'A`tadnā Lahum `Adhāba As-Sa`īri

We have decked the lowest heavens with torches. With these torches We have stoned the devils and We have prepared for them the torment of hell

Ayah 6

Walillatheena kafaroo birabbihim AAathabu jahannama wabisa almaseeru

Wa Lilladhīna Kafarū Birabbihim `Adhābu Jahannama Wa Bi'sa Al-Maşīru

For those who have disbelieved in their Lord, We have prepared the torment of hell, the most terrible place to return

Ayah 7

Itha olqoo feeha samiAAoo laha shaheeqan wahiya tafooru

Idhā 'Ulqū Fīhā Sami`ū Lahā Shahīqāan Wa Hiya Tafūru

When they are thrown into hell, they will hear its roaring while it boils

Ayah 8

Takadu tamayyazu mina alghaythi kullama olqiya feeha fawjun saalahum khazanatuha alam yatikum natheerun

Takādu Tamayyazu Mina Al-Ghayži Kullamā 'Ulqiya Fīhā Fawjun Sa'alahum Khazanatuhā 'Alam Ya'tikum Nadhīrun

It almost explodes in rage. Whenever a group is thrown into it, its keepers will ask them, "Did no one come to warn you

Ayah 9

Qaloo bala qad jaana natheerun fakaththabna waqulna ma nazzala Allahu min shayin in antum illa fee dalalin kabeerin

Qālū Balá Qad Jā'anā Nadhīrun Fakadhabnā Wa Qulnā Mā Nazzala Allāhu Min Shay'in 'In 'Antum 'Illā Fī Đalālin Kabīrin

They will say, "Yes, someone did come to warn us, but we rejected him saying, 'God has revealed nothing. You are in great error

Ayah 10

Waqaloo law kunna nasmaAAu aw naAAqilu ma kunna fee ashabi alssaAAeeri

Wa Qālū Law Kunnā Nasma`u 'Aw Na`qilu Mā Kunnā Fī 'Aşĥābi As-Sa`īri

They will also say, "Had We listened or used our minds, we would not have become the dwellers of hell

Ayah 11

FaiAAtarafoo bithanbihim fasuhqan liashabi alssaAAeeri

Fā`tarafū Bidhanbihim Fasuĥqāan Li'şĥābi As-Sa`īri

They will confess to their sins, but the dwellers of hell will be far away from God's (mercy)

12

Ayah 12

Inna allatheena yakhshawna rabbahum bialghaybi lahum maghfiratun waajrun kabeerun

Inna Al-Ladhīna Yakhshawna Rabbahum Bil-Ghaybi Lahum Maghfiratun Wa 'Ajrun Kabīrun

Those who fear their Lord in secret will receive forgiveness and a great reward

Ayah 13

Waasirroo qawlakum awi ijharoo bihi innahu AAaleemun bithati alssudoori

Wa 'Asirrū Qawlakum 'Aw Ajharū Bihi 'Innahu `Alīmun Bidhāti Aş-Şudūri

Whether you conceal what you say or reveal it, God knows best all that the hearts contain

Ayah 14

Ala yaAAlamu man khalaqa wahuwa allateefu alkhabeeru

Alā Ya`lamu Man Khalaqa Wa Huwa Al-Laţīfu Al-Khabīru

Does the One Who is Subtle, All-aware, and Who created all things not know all about them

15

Ayah 15

Huwa allathee jaAAala lakumu alarda thaloolan faimshoo fee manakibiha wakuloo min rizqihi wailayhi alnnushooru

Huwa Al-Ladhī Ja`ala Lakumu Al-'Arđa Dhalūlāan Fāmshū Fī Manākibihā Wa Kulū Min Rizqihi Wa 'Ilayhi An-Nushūru

It is He who has made the earth subservient to you. You walk through its vast valleys and eat of its sustenance. Before Him you will all be resurrected

Ayah 16

Aamintum man fee alssamai an yakhsifa bikumu alarda faitha hiya tamooru

A'amintum Man Fī As-Samā'i 'An Yakhsifa Bikumu Al-'Arđa Fa'idhā Hiya Tamūru

Do you feel secure that the One in the heavens will not cause you to sink into the earth when it is violently shaking

Ayah 17

Am amintum man fee alssamai an yursila AAalaykum hasiban fasataAAlamoona kayfa natheeri

Am 'Amintum Man Fī As-Samā'i 'An Yursila `Alaykum Ĥāşibāan Fasata`lamūna Kayfa Nadhīri

Do you feel secure that the One in the heavens will not strike you with a sandstorm? You will soon know, with the coming of the torment, how serious Our warning was

Ayah 18

Walaqad kaththaba allatheena min qablihim fakayfa kana nakeeri

Wa Laqad Kadhaba Al-Ladhīna Min Qablihim Fakayfa Kāna Nakīri

Those who lived before them had also rejected Our warning, and how terrible was Our retribution

19

Ayah 19

Awalam yaraw ila alttayri fawqahum saffatin wayaqbidna ma yumsikuhunna illa alrrahmanu innahu bikulli shayin baseerun

Awalam Yaraw 'Ilá Aţ-Ţayri Fawqahum Şāffātin Wa Yaqbiđna Mā Yumsikuhunna 'Illā Ar-Raĥmānu 'Innahu Bikulli Shay'in Başīrun

Did they not see the birds above them, stretching out, and flapping their wings. No one keeps them up in the sky except the Beneficent God. He certainly watches over all things

Ayah 20

Amman hatha allathee huwa jundun lakum yansurukum min dooni alrrahmani ini alkafiroona illa fee ghuroorin

Amman Hādhā Al-Ladhī Huwa Jundun Lakum Yanşurukum Min Dūni Ar-Raĥmāni 'Ini Al-Kāfirūna 'Illā Fī Ghurūrin

Do you have any armies who will help you against the Beneficent God? The disbelievers are certainly deceived (by satan)

Ayah 21

Amman hatha allathee yarzuqukum in amsaka rizqahu bal lajjoo fee AAutuwwin wanufoorin

Amman Hādhā Al-Ladhī Yarzuqukum 'In 'Amsaka Rizqahu Bal Lajjū Fī `Utūwin Wa Nufūrin

Is there anyone who will provide you with sustenance if God were to deny you sustenance? In fact, they obstinately persist in their transgression and hatred

Ayah 22

Afaman yamshee mukibban AAala wajhihi ahda amman yamshee sawiyyan AAala siratin mustaqeemin

Afaman Yamshī Mukibbāan `Alá Wajhihi 'Ahdá 'Amman Yamshī Sawīyāan `Alá Şirāţin Mustaqīmin

Can one who walks with his head hanging down be better guided that one who walks with his head upright

23

Ayah 23

Qul huwa allathee anshaakum wajaAAala lakumu alssamAAa waalabsara waalafidata qaleelan ma tashkuroona

Qul Huwa Al-Ladhī 'Ansha'akum Wa Ja`ala Lakumu As-Sam`a Wa Al-'Abşāra Wa Al-'Af'idata Qalīlāan Mā Tashkurūna

(Muhammad), say, "It is God who has brought you into being and made ears, eyes, and hearts for you, but you give very little thanks

Ayah 24

Qul huwa allathee tharaakum fee alardi wailayhi tuhsharoona

Qul Huwa Al-Ladhī Dhara'akum Fī Al-'Arđi Wa 'Ilayhi Tuĥsharūna

Say, "It is God who has settled you on the earth and to Him you will be resurrected

Ayah 25

Wayaqooloona mata hatha alwaAAdu in kuntum sadiqeena

Wa Yaqūlūna Matá Hādhā Al-Wa`du 'In Kuntum Şādiqīna

They say, "When will this torment take place if what you say is true

Ayah 26

Qul innama alAAilmu AAinda Allahi wainnama ana natheerun mubeenun

Qul 'Innamā Al-`Ilmu `Inda Allāhi Wa 'Innamā 'Anā Nadhīrun Mubīnun

Say, "God knows best. I am only one who gives warning

27

Ayah 27

Falamma raawhu zulfatan seeat wujoohu allatheena kafaroo waqeela hatha allathee kuntum bihi taddaAAoona

Falammā Ra'awhu Zulfatan Sī'at Wujūhu Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Wa Qīla Hādhā Al-Ladhī Kuntum Bihi Tadda`ūna

When they see the torment approaching, the faces of the disbelievers will blacken and they will be told, "This is what you wanted to (experience)

28

Ayah 28

Qul araaytum in ahlakaniya Allahu waman maAAiya aw rahimana faman yujeeru alkafireena min AAathabin aleemin

Qul 'Ara'aytum 'In 'Ahlakaniya Allāhu Wa Man Ma`ī 'Aw Raĥimanā Faman Yujīru Al-Kāfirīna Min `Adhābin 'Alīmin

(Muhammad), say, "Have you not considered that regardless whether God forgives me and my followers or grants us mercy, but who will protect the disbelievers from a painful torment

Ayah 29

Qul huwa alrrahmanu amanna bihi waAAalayhi tawakkalna fasataAAlamoona man huwa fee dalalin mubeenin

Qul Huwa Ar-Raĥmānu 'Āmannā Bihi Wa `Alayhi Tawakkalnā Fasata`lamūna Man Huwa Fī Đalālin Mubīnin

Say, "He is the Beneficent One in whom we have faith and trust. You will soon know who is in manifest error

30

Ayah 30

Qul araaytum in asbaha maokum ghawran faman yateekum bimain maAAeenin

Qul 'Ara'aytum 'In 'Aşbaĥa Mā'uukum Ghawrāan Faman Ya'tīkum Bimā'in Ma`īnin

Say, "Have you not thought that if your water was to dry up, who would bring you water from the spring
