Surah 79

An-Naazi'aat

Those who drag forth

سُورَةُ النَّازِعَاتِ

Meccan 46 Verses

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1

Ayah 1

WaalnnaziAAati gharqan

Wa An-Nāzi`āti Gharqāan

By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies

2

Ayah 2

Waalnnashitati nashtan

Wa An-Nāshiţāti Nashţāan

by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers

3

Ayah 3

Waalssabihati sabhan

Wa As-Sābiĥāti Sabĥāan

by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God)

4

Ayah 4

Faalssabiqati sabqan

Fālssābiqāti Sabqāan

by the angels who hasten along

5

Ayah 5

Faalmudabbirati amran

Fālmudabbirāti 'Amrāan

and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected)

6

Ayah 6

Yawma tarjufu alrrajifatu

Yawma Tarjufu Ar-Rājifahu

On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts

7

Ayah 7

TatbaAAuha alrradifatu

Tatba`uhā Ar-Rādifahu

and will be followed by the second one

8

Ayah 8

Quloobun yawmaithin wajifatun

Qulūbun Yawma'idhin Wājifahun

hearts will undergo terrible trembling

9

Ayah 9

Absaruha khashiAAatun

Abşāruhā Khāshi`ahun

and eyes will be humbly cast down

10

Ayah 10

Yaqooloona ainna lamardoodoona fee alhafirati

Yaqūlūna 'A'innā Lamardūdūna Fī Al-Ĥāfirahi

(The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again

11

Ayah 11

Aitha kunna AAithaman nakhiratan

A'idhā Kunnā `Ižāmāan Nakhirahan

after we have become bones and dust

12

Ayah 12

Qaloo tilka ithan karratun khasiratun

Qālū Tilka 'Idhāan Karratun Khāsirahun

They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss

13

Ayah 13

Fainnama hiya zajratun wahidatun

Fa'innamā Hiya Zajratun Wāĥidahun

However, it will only take a single blast

14

Ayah 14

Faitha hum bialssahirati

Fa'idhā Hum Bis-Sāhirahi

to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface

15

Ayah 15

Hal ataka hadeethu moosa

Hal 'Tāka Ĥadīthu Mūsá

(Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses

16

Ayah 16

Ith nadahu rabbuhu bialwadi almuqaddasi tuwan

Idh Nādāhu Rabbuhu Bil-Wādi Al-Muqaddasi Ţūáan

when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa

17

Ayah 17

Ithhab ila firAAawna innahu tagha

Adh/hab 'Ilá Fir`awna 'Innahu Ţaghá

saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds

18

Ayah 18

Faqul hal laka ila an tazakka

Faqul Hal Laka 'Ilá 'An Tazakká

And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself

19

Ayah 19

Waahdiyaka ila rabbika fatakhsha

Wa 'Ahdiyaka 'Ilá Rabbika Fatakhshá

I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him

20

Ayah 20

Faarahu alayata alkubra

Fa'arāhu Al-'Āyata Al-Kubrá

Moses showed him the great miracle

21

Ayah 21

Fakaththaba waAAasa

Fakadhaba Wa `Aşá

but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses)

22

Ayah 22

Thumma adbara yasAAa

Thumma 'Adbara Yas`á

Then he turned away in a hurry

23

Ayah 23

Fahashara fanada

Faĥashara Fanādá

and gathered his people together

24

Ayah 24

Faqala ana rabbukumu alaAAla

Faqāla 'Anā Rabbukumu Al-'A`lá

saying, "I am your supreme lord

25

Ayah 25

Faakhathahu Allahu nakala alakhirati waaloola

Fa'akhadhahu Allāhu Nakāla Al-'Ākhirati Wa Al-'Ūlá

So God struck him with the torment of this life and the life hereafter

26

Ayah 26

Inna fee thalika laAAibratan liman yakhsha

Inna Fī Dhālika La`ibratan Liman Yakhshá

In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God

27

Ayah 27

Aantum ashaddu khalqan ami alssamao banaha

A'antum 'Ashaddu Khalqāan 'Ami As-Samā'u Banāhā

(People), is your creation harder for God than that of the heavens, which He created, raised and established

28

Ayah 28

RafaAAa samkaha fasawwaha

Rafa`a Samkahā Fasawwāhā

high above

29

Ayah 29

Waaghtasha laylaha waakhraja duhaha

Wa 'Aghţasha Laylahā Wa 'Akhraja Đuĥāhā

He has made its nights dark and its days bright

30

Ayah 30

Waalarda baAAda thalika dahaha

Wa Al-'Arđa Ba`da Dhālika Daĥāhā

After this, He spread out the earth

31

Ayah 31

Akhraja minha maaha wamarAAaha

Akhraja Minhā Mā'ahā Wa Mar`āhā

produced water and grass therefrom

32

Ayah 32

Waaljibala arsaha

Wa Al-Jibāla 'Arsāhā

then set-up firmly the mountains

33

Ayah 33

MataAAan lakum walianAAamikum

Matā`āan Lakum Wa Li'an`āmikum

All this was done as a means of enjoyment for you and your cattle

34

Ayah 34

Faitha jaati alttammatu alkubra

Fa'idhā Jā'ati Aţ-Ţāmmatu Al-Kubrá

On the day when the great calamity comes

35

Ayah 35

Yawma yatathakkaru alinsanu ma saAAa

Yawma Yatadhakkaru Al-'Insānu Mā Sa`á

the human being will recall whatever he has done

36

Ayah 36

Waburrizati aljaheemu liman yara

Wa Burrizati Al-Jaĥīmu Liman Yará

Hell fire will become visible for those who would see it

37

Ayah 37

Faamma man tagha

Fa'ammā Man Ţaghá

Those who have rebelled

38

Ayah 38

Waathara alhayata alddunya

Wa 'Āthara Al-Ĥayāata Ad-Dunyā

and preferred the worldly life

39

Ayah 39

Fainna aljaheema hiya almawa

Fa'inna Al-Jaĥīma Hiya Al-Ma'wá

hell will be their dwelling

40

Ayah 40

Waama man khafa maqama rabbihi wanaha alnnafsa AAani alhawa

Wa 'Ammā Man Khāfa Maqāma Rabbihi Wa Nahá An-Nafsa `Ani Al-Hawá

However, those who had feared their Lord and restrained their souls from acting according to its desires

41

Ayah 41

Fainna aljannata hiya almawa

Fa'inna Al-Jannata Hiya Al-Ma'wá

Paradise will be the dwelling

42

Ayah 42

Yasaloonaka AAani alssaAAati ayyana mursaha

Yas'alūnaka `Ani As-Sā`ati 'Ayyāna Mursāhā

(Muhammad), they ask you, "When will the Hour of Doom come

43

Ayah 43

Feema anta min thikraha

Fīma 'Anta Min Dhikrāhā

(Muhammad), you do not know (when and how) it will come

44

Ayah 44

Ila rabbika muntahaha

Ilá Rabbika Muntahāhā

This matter is in the hands of your Lord

45

Ayah 45

Innama anta munthiru man yakhshaha

Innamā 'Anta Mundhiru Man Yakhshāhā

You are only a warner for those who fear such a day

46

Ayah 46

Kaannahum yawma yarawnaha lam yalbathoo illa AAashiyyatan aw duhaha

Ka'annahum Yawma Yarawnahā Lam Yalbathū 'Illā `Ashīyatan 'Aw Đuĥāhā

On the day when they see it, it will seem to them as though they had only lived in the world for a morning and an afternoon
