Al-Inshiqaaq

Itha alssamao inshaqqat

Idhā As-Samā'u Anshaqqat

When the heaven bursts asunder

Waathinat lirabbiha wahuqqat

Wa 'Adhinat Lirabbihā Wa Ĥuqqat

And obeys its Lord and it must

Waitha alardu muddat

Wa 'Idhā Al-'Arđu Muddat

And when the earth is stretched

Waalqat ma feeha watakhallat

Wa 'Alqat Mā Fīhā Wa Takhallat

And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty

Waathinat lirabbiha wahuqqat

Wa 'Adhinat Lirabbihā Wa Ĥuqqat

And obeys its Lord and it must

Ya ayyuha alinsanu innaka kadihun ila rabbika kadhan famulaqeehi

Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-'Insānu 'Innaka Kādiĥun 'Ilá Rabbika Kadĥāan Famulāqīhi

O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him

Faama man ootiya kitabahu biyameenihi

Fa'ammā Man 'Ūtiya Kitābahu Biyamīnihi

Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand

Fasawfa yuhasabu hisaban yaseeran

Fasawfa Yuĥāsabu Ĥisābāan Yasīrāan

He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning

Wayanqalibu ila ahlihi masrooran

Wa Yanqalibu 'Ilá 'Ahlihi Masrūrāan

And he shall go back to his people joyful

Waamma man ootiya kitabahu waraa thahrihi

Wa 'Ammā Man 'Ūtiya Kitābahu Warā'a Žahrihi

And as to him who is given his book behind his back

Fasawfa yadAAoo thubooran

Fasawfa Yad`ū Thubūrāan

He shall call for perdition

Wayasla saAAeeran

Wa Yaşlá Sa`īrāan

And enter into burning fire

Innahu kana fee ahlihi masrooran

Innahu Kāna Fī 'Ahlihi Masrūrāan

Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers

Innahu thanna an lan yahoora

Innahu Žanna 'An Lan Yaĥūra

Surely he thought that he would never return

Bala inna rabbahu kana bihi baseeran

Balá 'Inna Rabbahu Kāna Bihi Başīrāan

Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him

Fala oqsimu bialshshafaqi

Falā 'Uqsimu Bish-Shafaqi

But nay! I swear by the sunset redness

Waallayli wama wasaqa

Wa Al-Layli Wa Mā Wasaqa

And the night and that which it drives on

Waalqamari itha ittasaqa

Wa Al-Qamari 'Idhā Attasaqa

And the moon when it grows full

Latarkabunna tabaqan AAan tabaqin

Latarkabunna Ţabaqāan `An Ţabaqin

That you shall most certainly enter one state after another

Fama lahum la yuminoona

Famā Lahum Lā Yu'uminūna

But what is the matter with them that they do not believe

Waitha quria AAalayhimu alquranu la yasjudoona

Wa 'Idhā Quri'a `Alayhimu Al-Qur'ānu Lā Yasjudūna

And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance

Bali allatheena kafaroo yukaththiboona

Bali Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Yukadhibūna

Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth

WaAllahu aAAlamu bima yooAAoona

Wa Allāhu 'A`lamu Bimā Yū`ūna

And Allah knows best what they hide

Fabashshirhum biAAathabin aleemin

Fabashirhum Bi`adhābin 'Alīmin

So announce to them a painful punishment

Illa allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati lahum ajrun ghayru mamnoonin

Illā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa `Amilū Aş-Şāliĥāti Lahum 'Ajrun Ghayru Mamnūnin

Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off
