At-Taariq

Waalssamai waalttariqi

Wa As-Samā'i Wa Aţ-Ţāriqi

By the heaven, and by the nightly visitor

Wama adraka ma alttariqu

Wa Mā 'Adrāka Mā Aţ-Ţāriqu

and what will show you what is the nightly visitor

Alnnajmu alththaqibu

An-Najmu Ath-Thāqibu

It is the brilliant star

In kullu nafsin lamma AAalayha hafithun

In Kullu Nafsin Lammā `Alayhā Ĥāfižun

there is a guard over every soul

Falyanthuri alinsanu mimma khuliqa

Falyanžuri Al-'Insānu Mimma Khuliqa

So let man consider from what he was created

Khuliqa min main dafiqin

Khuliqa Min Mā'in Dāfiqin

He was created from an effusing fluid

Yakhruju min bayni alssulbi waalttaraibi

Yakhruju Min Bayni Aş-Şulbi Wa At-Tarā'ibi

which issues from between the loins and the breast-bones

Innahu AAala rajAAihi laqadirun

Innahu `Alá Raj`ihi Laqādirun

Indeed He is able to bring him back [after death]

Yawma tubla alssarairu

Yawma Tublá As-Sarā'iru

on the day when the secrets are examined

Fama lahu min quwwatin wala nasirin

Famā Lahu Min Qūwatin Wa Lā Nāşirin

and he shall have neither power nor helper

Waalssamai thati alrrajAAi

Wa As-Samā'i Dhāti Ar-Raj`i

By the resurgent heaven

Waalardi thati alssadAAi

Wa Al-'Arđi Dhāti Aş-Şad`i

and by the furrowed earth

Innahu laqawlun faslun

Innahu Laqawlun Faşlun

it is indeed a conclusive discourse

Wama huwa bialhazli

Wa Mā Huwa Bil-Hazli

and not a jest

Innahum yakeedoona kaydan

Innahum Yakīdūna Kaydāan

Indeed they are devising a stratagem

Waakeedu kaydan

Wa 'Akīdu Kaydāan

and I [too] am devising a plan

Famahhili alkafireena amhilhum ruwaydan

Famahhili Al-Kāfirīna 'Amhilhum Ruwaydāan

So respite the faithless; give them a gentle respite
