Surah 87

Al-A'laa

The Most High

سُورَةُ الأَعۡلَىٰ

Meccan 19 Verses

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1

Ayah 1

Sabbihi isma rabbika alaAAla

Sabbiĥi Asma Rabbika Al-'A`lá

(Muhammad), glorify the Name of your lord, the Most High

2

Ayah 2

Allathee khalaqa fasawwa

Al-Ladhī Khalaqa Fasawwá

Who has created (all things) proportionately

3

Ayah 3

Waallathee qaddara fahada

Wa Al-Ladhī Qaddara Fahadá

decreed their destinies, and provided them with guidance

4

Ayah 4

Waallathee akhraja almarAAa

Wa Al-Ladhī 'Akhraja Al-Mar`á

It is He who has caused the grass to grow

5

Ayah 5

FajaAAalahu ghuthaan ahwa

Faja`alahu Ghuthā'an 'Aĥwá

then caused it to wither away

6

Ayah 6

Sanuqrioka fala tansa

Sanuqri'uka Falā Tansá

We shall teach you (the Quran) and you will not forget it

7

Ayah 7

Illa ma shaa Allahu innahu yaAAlamu aljahra wama yakhfa

Illā Mā Shā'a Allāhu 'Innahu Ya`lamu Al-Jahra Wa Mā Yakhfá

unless God wills it to be otherwise. He knows all that is made public and all that remains hidden

Ayah 8

Wanuyassiruka lilyusra

Wa Nuyassiruka Lilyusrá

We shall make all your tasks easy

9

Ayah 9

Fathakkir in nafaAAati alththikra

Fadhakkir 'In Nafa`ati Adh-Dhikrá

Therefore, keep on preaching as long as it is of benefit

10

Ayah 10

Sayaththakkaru man yakhsha

Sayadhakkaru Man Yakhshá

Those who have fear of God will benefit

11

Ayah 11

Wayatajannabuha alashqa

Wa Yatajannabuhā Al-'Ashqá

but the reprobates will turn away

12

Ayah 12

Allathee yasla alnnara alkubra

Al-Ladhī Yaşlá An-Nāra Al-Kubrá

and suffer the heat of the great fire

13

Ayah 13

Thumma la yamootu feeha wala yahya

Thumma Lā Yamūtu Fīhā Wa Lā Yaĥyā

wherein they will neither live nor die

14

Ayah 14

Qad aflaha man tazakka

Qad 'Aflaĥa Man Tazakká

Lasting happiness will be for those who purify themselves

15

Ayah 15

Wathakara isma rabbihi fasalla

Wa Dhakara Asma Rabbihi Faşallá

remember the name of the Lord, and pray to Him

16

Ayah 16

Bal tuthiroona alhayata alddunya

Bal Tu'uthirūna Al-Ĥayāata Ad-Dunyā

However, (the disbelievers) prefer the worldly life

17

Ayah 17

Waalakhiratu khayrun waabqa

Wa Al-'Ākhiratu Khayrun Wa 'Abqá

even though the life hereafter will be better and will last forever

18

Ayah 18

Inna hatha lafee alssuhufi aloola

Inna Hādhā Lafī Aş-Şuĥufi Al-'Ūlá

This is what is written in the ancient heavenly Books

19

Ayah 19

Suhufi ibraheema wamoosa

Şuĥufi 'Ibrāhīma Wa Mūsá
